I think you you have not toned it down enough personally.

Yes, the Texas City LaMarque area needs some love. But it is much more tolerable and cleaner now than it was in the 60's when I lived down there.
The Beaumont area has issues too. But so do any industrialized areas of our world.

Even without the industry much of the Texas coast "smells" because of the type of ecosystem it is. Any area of coastal tide land will have a funk to it.
But it's a wildlife paradise, unlike the desert of the "pretty beaches".

I must have missed the "we hate texas" thread.

raced in dallas once, texas is ok I suppose.
it was flat and windy, the track was slick and 7 bikes went down, Bill Furr was nearly killed.
I wouldn't live anywhere but Maryland, myself
I don't advertise it though, If I lived alone in Maryland that would be fine by me.

no it's acrid sulphur smell caused by cracking crude.. I even remember those towers with a big flame on the top and forgot what those are called, but think they are by-pass valves burning off excessive pressure in the refinery..

I would love to visit Austin for the music. I've got nothing against any part of our country N S E or W. I've lived in NY Ohio Cali and now NC. I've visited many places in this country but I haven't been through Texas yet.
Love this land! We're all lucky to be here. imo
Hope to get there someday.

sans, do you want to get my twin brother into this fray? he should know since he lived in Texas (specifically Texas City) and told me at least 1 person per city block in Texas City had brain cancer which is thousands-fold higher than the national average?.. all you have to do is google "brain cancer Texas City" as keywords and you see I'm right on.. I AIN"T A LIAR!

Texas is much cleaner today than it was in the 60's , 70's. I'm also guessing they cleaned it up before there ever was a significant presence of environmentalists shoving and coercing standards down everybody's throats... That is to say, We Exceed the standards and often did so on our own dime.

I think I'm gonna try and get down to SXSW one of these years, that's got to be a blast.
Now that would be a good spot for some folks here to meet up.

I'm sure there are plenty of fine women in Texas but I got lucky and found me a keeper many moons ago... and I haven't found a need for another. 8)

I never said you lied. I said you use unconfirmed speculative information as proof.

I've worked in catalytic cracking units myself . . . you ??
My first degree was refining . . . yours ?

That swamp sulfur smell is hydrogen sulfide and is a natural part of the decay process.

Jumping to conclusions based on some "study" is as pointless a blaming inanimate objects for the actions of men.

You made up your mind before your "research" was conducted I'm sure.
Glad you convinced . . . I'm not.

I left Maryland as soon as could. It was turning Yankee so fast it was downright humiliating. Too close to DC I guess.

Lived all over since then but my home is Georgia. And if Texas succeeds I hope GA does to. If she doesn't, I'm moving to Texas! 8)

Mr Haley

This time I hope we follow Stonewall Jackson's advice: War to the knife. Raise the black flag - no prisnoers. Come down here with their torches and guns and they'll not go home this time. Criminal invaders should be dealt with promptly and condignly.
