GLENNY J wrote:So once again, WHAT DOES OBAMA HAVE AGAINST N.A.S.A.

not looking to stir to the pot but this begs the question.....why do you think obama has something against NASA????

i mean you can't both blame him and the dems for out of control spending and then turn around bellyaching when he tries to appease the righties who are bitching about said out of control spending and don't want to pay any more taxes.

well, i guess you can.....guess you did.

(LET THE PILE ON BEGIN!!!)

Obama's problem with Nasa is it is a GREAT way to divide the country. You see "his constituent's" Believe that all that science and gitten smart stuff is a waste of money! I have heard all my Life "that outer space stuff is takin food outta po folks mouths" "do you know how many hungry folks that money wasted on the space program could feed"?
Obummer is gonna milk that sh!t for every vote he can get! Next thing you know HE'LL BE TAKING CREDIT FOR CURIOSITY! Then HE'LL BE GRANDSTANDING talking about taxing them right wingers bullets cause that'll feed Mo PO Folk!

My statement to the president is;

"Mr. President you think you got yourself elected president? No you didn't, somebody else made that happen" problem is now you have p!ssed most of those folks off so you better pack your phukin bags!

Sorry when you mention NASA and Obummer in the same sentence I get kinda p!ssed. You see I live down around Johnson Space Center and they have been laying massive amounts of engineers and staff off ever since the Socialist took office! In spite of that S.O.B. we are surviving.
"Obummers constituent's" don't take into consideration that that those $100,000.00+ a year income producing engineers go out to eat, have their lawns mowed, cars repaired, shop for groceries, have their houses painted built and repaired! They spend money that keep other folks employed but the current dumb@ss president doesn't care about that because HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE FREE MARKET SYSTEM! THE GUBMENT IS THE ANSWER IN HIS MIND!

No even worse Jeff is that their work touches every thing in our lives.

Sorry if I'm looking 100 years ahead.

Obama is actually right when he says government has helped all business in America. NASA has helped all of us with so much.

SO WHY WOULD HE WANT TO STOP THAT?

CONTROL, CONTROL, CONTROL! But,,,,

You can never control, free, enterprising, God loving people, that have guns!

So we borrowed a bunch of money from the Chinese to send a bit of gadgetry to Mars. Excuse me, I've got to call my daughter in law and tell her that baby she's carrying just assumed more massive debt.

you wanna go to outer space? Cool. Balance the budget first.

We spent how many billions of dollars to find out that maybe there was once water on an inhospitable, uninhabitable planet millions of miles from here. I can think of thousands of reasons to divide that billions of dollars among unemployed people who occupy Earth, or spend billions of dollars to improve water conservation methods here in the drought stricken Midwest.

In a nut Shell, Bob is suggesting that money should be spent on this inhospitable, uninhabitable planet, millions of miles from the other one...

Their spending was "out of this world"...It stands to reason that the budget was too. ;)

Just goes to show that some people feel government waste is acceptable.
Allowing real men to exercise their freedom and indomitable spirit is obviously a very dangerous thing because it goes against the new world order that the few wish to impose against the many.

For me, I will celebrate the the brave, the adventurer, the bold, the individual that greets the unknown with the spirit of passion. I will support them and beg to go along. Human spirit.
While you all beg for complacency and what you believe to be normal....
Music is just a small part of the human spirit. FUNNY, I don't want to be remembered for playing in a great tribute band.

The way I'm reading some of these post's,,, this is perfectly acceptable.
Now I want some of you to reach down between your legs and actually feel if you still have any ***** left.

YOU GUYS HAVE TO BE JOKING. NAH, SAD

Unfortunately I'm not joking. It's a wonderful thing to have safely landed a sophisticated piece of equipment on Mars, amazing. I'd rather see a cure for autism for my son.

Glen - for goodness sake.

Celebrate the people who are doing this sort of thing privately, hoping to make a profit off of it. They are already in space and starting to advertise tours to the Moon.

I just can't cotten to the govt clowns borrowing money from foriegners to do something that the market can and should provide - and it could provide a lot more if the govt swine would butt out and mind their own constitutionallly circumscribed business!

Whew... i feel like St. Paul after a sentence that long! :D

Bob, Mike, You can't have it both ways.
The medical research that has been called for by NASA has probably pushed us closer to cures for so many diseases that the average uninformed persons would not be aware of. Bariatric medical, stents, so much I would have to do years of research to keep up with it. All coming out of NASA research. Sometimes not having the answer but at least pointing the way. Bob I'm sorry about your son. My question to you is why have you lost the faith that the money spent at NASA would not unlock the secrets of autism. NASA is not and never has been all about putting metal into space.
I was going to push it here Bob. Out of respect for you I won't

Talbot,,, It is exciting. Once again American entrepreneurs have proven the absolute ability of SPIRIT.
Sadly,,, the biggest obstacle in their way, is our own GOVERNMENT.

Now you go ahead and tell me what's wrong with this picture.

Glen, I am still trying to understand why we would need the govt to run a space program...Wouldnt it be better to let the wealthy folk buy some two trillion dollar seats in the first class cabin of the casino shuttle, bound for the Jetson Ranch on Mars...? :) As you know, private enterprise always trumps governement frankenchise. 8) or is that Make some room for the Capitalist, please...We dont need dat Gubment Frankencheese... 8)

Dawg, Isn't that what I just said.

50 years ago OUR country set out to do the impossible. People are still saying what a waste.

We all went hunting together as a nation, we conceived and overcame insurmountable obstacles in our space program,,,, The cost and uncertainty were tremendous. The long term hidden pay back has also been tremendous.

Today,, If it has become more important to hand out free money than to walk forward,,,,, we have become nothing. BUT,,,, That is were it gets to be so exciting. When all the big government says , "NO MORE",,, American Spirit steps in. YES WE CAN.

This is gonna sound Crazy... But dumping NASA was a good thing... Like other folks said..It was a huge drain on the tax coffers, and its not like NASA cant go private and hire all the engineers back (albeit at modified salaries and perks) . Maybe it was a big favor to the US to get the the govt 's finger out out of the NASA Pie. I still contend that the deadly shuttle explosion would NEVER have happened if NASA was a free agent in the equation. But the Govt kills everything it touches, including the very safety it professes to support.

Only Time will tell...

Grant, the budget for the entire space program accounts for 1% of the U.S. budget 1% dude. Its okay for us to take in 20 million illegal aliens and support them. Its okay for us to feed a bunch of lazy people that want to do NOTHING but lay around and bread, yet we as a nation can't spend 1% of the budget to advance Engineering and science?
