We've been experiencing an horrific weather event since at least April 15, almost no rain, searing temperatures, and I have been commenting on the lack of insects and how dark blue the sky has appeared to me. Even though today was very hot, the sky was a lighter shade of blue. I fish very often and today the fish were more active than I've seen in months. There was more humidity in the air. The cicadas, which are prollific in the Kansas City area but sporadic this year, started singing like crazy this evening. I have this hunch, a hope that the giant high pressure ridge may FINALLY be starting to break down. There still is a prediction of searing heat tomorrow through Wednesday, but today felt different. Almost imperceptible, but different. Hope this major heatwave and drought will ease, and relief come to the parched Great Plains.

We sat through weeks of smoke from near constant grass & forest fires in East Texas. This year so far has been quite wet and humid as we are accustomed too. Still temps in the triple digits are no fun . . . but it is Texas after-all.

The giant high pressure ridge sitting right on top of K.C. simply won't let any rain near us. Outlook is bleak for any appreciable moisture. Send some our way. Maybe ask the Big Man to help us.

That's one of my favorites...I'm pretty sure Harrison was behind some of the construction of that really fine tune....

There is some very melodic bass playing in "Let it Rain." Very fond of that one.

The good news: this weekend some dead, yellowed leaves fell in my yard, and today I felt an actual cool breeze. I know it's not even august yet but one can dream.

And I'm dreaming of an early Autumn.
