Family first ~ if touring will take you away from family for extended periods of time, I would say no. But that's my situation. I don't know yours. While I do have a passion for music, my passion is playing, learning performing. I don't care much for chasing a dream. If I were single on the other hand, I would do it ~ not to get recognized or sponsored, but to hit the highway and experience new things. It would be a tremendous head-rush of excitement, boredom and misery of being coupe'd up with a bunch of musicians for months at a time
The more I practice, the more time I wish I had to practice
I post my band's progression / findings here::

I see some of it thus ... you can reach for the brass ring and keep you feet on the floor.
Only a fool sacrifices health and true happiness for the dream of riches as we all know many if not most of the "rich" in show business are really pitiful examples of humanity.
But I digress.
Lets us back up a second here. We are talking two grand ... hell you can invest two grand in T-Shirts real easy for just a local band much less some national tour.
Hypothetical again of course.
If you were with me today and I came to you and said, If each member of the band invested 2K that we could and would be able to function as a band for two years with a CD and all the necessary merchandise to make a run at being picked up by sponsors.
Could you, would you, in a boat with a goat?
And if you wish a simple yes or no answer would suffice for my "research " purposes.
On the face of the deal...NO. I would need more detail and context than is being provided here

No long distance tours, realistic gig schedules, expectations, goals. Players who can get it done. I'm in!
$2k effectively weeds out ALL the flaky CL wannabe musicians and that is a very good thing.
I must not be communicating my question very effectively.
Thejohnny7band gets it.
Though I thoroughly understand others points made. I had no intent of anything of long distance tour in mind at all.
More a feel of how many people ( if musicians count as people )
Would be willing to say hell yeah 2 K two years ... lets seek what we can make of it.
This is a little sideways from the topic, but I would like you all to watch this.
It isn't music, so you don't have to fear being exposed to something you can't stand...

I think it's a little wisdom about the life and the entertainment industry in general.
