I'm new, and what I see is great, but local situations seem to be non existent...drop-ins, meets etc, just don't happen if they are not created..the music scene on a local level needs connections and a common policy of supporting the beginners and more experienced..yet there is nothing to be had. I have just put together a work in progress and started the project as a co-operative on yahoo groups..but finding members to join has proved more difficult than I had imagined..yet I am in a rich musical region...Portsmouth to the West, Selsey and Chichester, and Worthing to the East....so why is there no interest? or have I not found the right way in....you can message me if you really think it's good for you, as genuine members are the goal..or go to the groups site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/music_cooperative and have a look.

I'm from up North but just wanted to make a suggestion...

Wouldn't a Facebook Group be a 'better' group to set up? You'd prpbably get a lot more interaction.

I'm an old git now - in my late 50's, but still making original guitar music. I remember music co-ops back in the 70's/80's. They were the main route into collaborative music making and meeting fellow musicians. I recall they were called 'collectives'.

The co-ops/collectives seem to have been replaced with Open Mic nights now with no 'glue' or 'hub' for the participants.
