Some dude posted a Jackson DX10D for $50 on CL...I contacted him, met in a parking lot and 30 minutes later scored it for $40. Red trans finish with Floyd and SD pickups. Its no museum piece but I laughed how easy that was. Yeah, maybe its hot,...maybe some guy with genital warts played it with his butt, who knows...plays great, and I am not into metal guitars...probably flip it for a few bones.

Anyone else have any great scores on CL?

I doubt it, he said the serial was rubbed off to expose the gorgeous veneer and he was wearing gloves to keep it clean when he handed it to me...seemed legit.

^ Nice!

I scored a Silvertone 1482 about a month ago for $195. I made a clip of it yesterday after replacing the 2-prong cord with a grounded one (death cap removed), replaced the masonite speaker baffleboard with a new one made out of 3/8" birch ply, replaced the stock Fisher speaker with a nice vintage CTS alnico, added jacks to both the 4 ohm & 8 ohm transformer taps for easy speaker swaps & extension cab use and cleaned the pots.

Here is a youtube clip:

It's a great sounding little backseat rocker now.

Nice sound with the Les Paul, I see alot of old funky tube amps on CL, PLUSH, Kustom,Silvertone,Kalamazoo...etc...that probably get ignored until people hear stories like yours.

There's so many musicians around here (Boston area) that there are seldom any real deals posted on the local CL. Instead, there are people trying to sell Squers for the same price as new, as 'Fender Strats'.

I did pick up an LTD50 by ESP LP-like electric a year ago - guy was moving out of the country, so needed to get rid of it quick. I offered him $90, which included a stand, 2 stompboxes (one was no good from battery corrosion) and a Line 6 Toneport interface. I sold the Toneport for $35 and the distorion box for $15, so the guitar ended up costing me $40!

I dont know if it was a deal or not, but I bought my POD PRO with pedal board off of craigs list and its been a really good tool for me.

The thing didnt have a scratch on it, the guy had bought it new and just didnt ever figure out how to use it. I keep it in my truck for a backup at gigs, just plug it straight into the board, and for recording the same thing, sounds great to me.

Craigslist has got me a few good things. The best was a brand new desk in the box for free. Someone posted a curb alert in the free section and I found there on the side of the road.

It wasn't Craigslist, but I found a 1985 Aria Pro II RS Knight Warrior guitar at a yard sale for $20 a little over a week ago. It just needs a few strings. I'm going to try to learn how to play guitar (I'm a singer) does anyone have any opinions on this guitar?

My first electric was an Aria Pro II "The Cat"...I think they were on par with Kramer , Washburn and the ilk. I dont think any of them would be investment worthy, unless they were signed or endorsed by an artist like Blind Lemon Chitlins , or Eddie Fingers Strapanello or something.

I got a POD3Live from some guy for $100 on CL (They were selling around $250 or so,it's like new...as mentioned , great tool like the pod pro but I prefer pedals. Its probably the best useless deal I have made.

Its kinda wild watching what free stuff pops-up...I have the craigslist app o my phone and you can setup pre-designated searches that alarm you if any new posts meet your criteria. Some guy was looking to exchange nude pics of his fiance for mechanic work....(there is no correlation between that and my app searches).

Do you think it is a good guitar for someone who doesn't know the first thing about playing the guitar?

It looks like they go for North of $200 on-line, so at least it was a good buy.

Its what you make of it, my first acoustic had 3 strings and the action was an inch high but I thought I sounded like Hendrix. The best player I personally know is broke and plays an 80's squire with a split headstock and tape holding the pickups in, I wouldnt put up my thousand dollar guitars to sound as good as him (through any amp).

If it isnt damaged , it should be a perfect starter guitar if not be fine for many years to come. Most of us keep changing guitars because of status, boredom, curiousity or an odd mental imbalance to simply achieve owning something, maybe we replace guitars for women? lol I am sure many of us regret selling at least 1 or 2 "crappy" guitars.

I think Aria might even be considered retro to some, cooler to make an odd guitar sound good than be "that guy", the one who buys a $4,000 Gibson and can only play smoke on the water. One more time....!

I had an ARIA Bass it was a Rick Bass Copy and played great, I wish I had kept that one, I thought it was well made instrument.

That was in the late 70s, I played it thru an old Kustom Head and a 2x15, and sometimes I would run it stereo into another amp, a little Peavey TNT I had around at that time, that was some mushy sounding tones, and Im sure my guitarist hated that sound! LOL!
