What? Dumb yourselves down? Why would you need to dumb yourselves down for me? I am much more wiser than a lot of the jerks I've encountered online. I am NOT one of those musicians who is just trying to screw around with fame, girls, and other things.

I am just trying to find a few college dudes who have a passion for playing pop and soft rock music, and have many other interests and are NOT do not follow the norm.

And another thing I don't get is why I keep running into people who use these kind of message boards WHILE at work, which can sometimes aggravate people. Heck, if people didn't use these message boards while at work, they wouldn't have to label things with "NSFW".

And as I said, whining or rather complaining doesn't have to be a bad thing. In my case, I was hoping it would reach a few individuals who were a lot more understanding and who could help me find something a lot more promising, or to show me how to go about creating a forum the right way and how to advertize so it reaches the correct audience.

I am so tired of my request (no matter where it's posted) reaching highly experienced musicians who are ready to get out and perform, or who are ready to pursue a career in music.

Also I would've been willing to try a coffee shop Open Mic, but I needed to know of specifics. In other words, I needed to speak to guys in Baton Rouge to gain the knowledge I need. Sure, i could look it up on Google, but that's not always the best thing because some businesses might not have a website yet.

And it's nice to be able to hear from other people's experiences who have similar tastes in music to mine. That would convince me to give the site a try, more so than hearing it reccommended by someone who plays hard rock, classic rock, or heavy metal.

There you go whining again!

I think the concensus of this board is that is a bad trait to have no matter who you are trying to reach.

And there you go continueing to complain, and continueing to respond to my posts when you know you aren't the right kind of person, considering your expereicne level, and your music tastes, and of course, the type of person you represent. You look like one of those people who plays in a rock band (think hair metal) and who was trying to impress the ladies with his bad-ass guitar skills and who screwed around with drugs and heavy drinking. The all too common respondent from practically everywhere I've tried thus far, both online and in person.

I need to reach the opposite. I need to reach people like Matt Nathanson, Adam Lambert, David Archuleta, Kris Allen, who despite them making money off of their albums, actually play music because it makes them happy. And of course, like them, individuals who are not afraid to share what annoys them about looking for the right individuals to play with and who understands the importance of having a few special broterly friends.

I see where you are coming from, but depending on how other people respond, that also influences whether my posts reach my intended audience.

Whenever I post something online or even in person, I always try my best to post it as if I was one of my readers.

Have you looked into any fan sites of the people you like, Madonna, Cher, Adam Lambert, someplace like that might be a start.

Just a thought, to me you want to get to know some folks that like the music you like first, and then maybe play some music, so a fan site might be a start. Plus you might be able to look at thier profiles and see if any live near you.

I have looked into that, but there's just one problem: reaching these people as a whole, and within my area. Also take into account that a lot of those artists are more often liked by the preteen and teen girls, rather than guys in their 20s.

Aside from that, a lot of these fan sites take a minimlast approach to profiles, thus some of the information I would need to know about someone would have to be learned through the forum, and sometimes I would like to talk to members in private.

Unofficial fan sites though are hit or miss, because they might've been active during a certain time (e.g. during Adam Lambert's rise to fame on American Idol, but lost popularity afterward).

So, what else am I overlooking?
