As far as roasting a pig, if you rigged up a rotating spit and/or cover, sure. The inside dimensions (to the brick inner wall) are 3ft x 3ft x 1ft deep.

Love the fire pit, thats awesome, but in my neck of the woods its way too hot for fire these days, my wife installed a mist-er system on our back patio, just to stay cool!

Ugh, back to work after 5 days off sucks. Hosted a party on the 4th, stayed at the casino Thursday (wife won $1200), did a lot of hanging out by the pool, I'm getting a pretty deep tan going. Putting together a classic rock band with drummer Mike to play at cover band venues. No rest for the wicked!

Gm I have a little store bought pit, and when ever I cut wood around the yard, just branches and stuff I cut it to fit the pit, we use it in the fall and early spring.

I looked at your pit again and you did a great job on that.

My wife works in the yard on plants, I guess I should post some pics of my world, but I was off friday and had this old trailer thing with a hose spool on it, I took the spool off and found a basket to fit in it, and made a top that fits on it so she can haul bags of mulch and dirt around. I was gonna throw the thing away, but Im always fabricating silly stuff like that.

She handles the flowers and plants, while I have what I call "pet bermuda grass" that I have limed heavily, fertilized and have been watering constantly with the drought we are having, my house lookes like an oasis, I have a huge yard and most of it is brown, but up around the house it is so green right now that it probably looks flourescent to a satelite flying over!

Its great to chill out on the deck after work and chores with a cold beer and a beautiful girl, yeah life is good!

Im jealous, I dont know what I would do with a 2 week vacation, I just tend to take a day here and there these days.

We've got a vacation freeze here starting in October as we do a big software conversion - so it's 'use it before then or lose it'.

I do not miss working for the man at all..I have been self-employed the last six years (this August) and only regret, that I did not do so all my life instead of the last six years.. are you back into the swing of things Mike?.. some people complain about being self-employed because of the lack of social contact at the office/shop, but calling all the shots w/o having to "work" with azzholes is pure heaven on earth..

Never got OUT of the swing of things - I check my work emails every day when out of the office, forwarding what needs it.
If you can make a living working for yourself (or better yet in MUSIC), more power to you! Most self-employed people I know work 80+ hours a week, leaving no time for much of anything else.
Enjoy every day as much as you can - that's what I learned from my father - who quit working for others to form his own companies, then slaved too many hours. He sold off all his businesses and retired at 65 and had less than 6 years of enjoying himself before having a stroke and dying of cancer a few months later.

you are right about the hours worked, but the funny thing is I don't consider it work ...it's more like a lifestyle.. there is not 1 day of the week that I do not do at least a few hours of "work", and it bothers me when I think of the Bible dictating a human should take 1 day off for rest every week, my opinion is that 1 day of rest a week is for health reasons, God knowing a human is not a machine which can run 24/7 until a bearing seizes up or something..
