The guy is not taking it out on anybody. He was making a point that some people on here think highly of themselves and think they are all that because they have more experience than someone and find enjoyment in picking on someone less expereienced and someone who has different music tastes, and different goals than most of the people who post here. In my case, I am looking for a few select friends who just happen to play music for enjoyment, but are NOT pursuing a career in music or work in a music related. You guys give musicians a bad name.

That is true, money does have to come from somewhere: usually on the internet, it's through ads, and sometimes it's a special non-profit program. I don't know where the money comes from on those sites.

And as noted, I am willing to pay for something that shows promise.

Not necessarily "cliques", but just more intimate discussion groups. I wouldn't mind connecting with a few professionals on here who like more of the music I enjoy, and who I could network with on Facebook to find these special friends I've been looking for.

Do what you like stay or go but you can do searches and you can put your E-mail address in your info page and on your forum signature. And if you find someone you really want to contact... cough up the $$
Don't let a few packs of smokes keep you from finding someone serious about playing!

I never paid anything.
not sure what the beef is really about.
I suppose if you want solicit people unannounced you might have to pay for the privilege, that doesn't seem unreasonable.
