That advice is NOT going to work, because I am looking for guys who just happen to play pop and soft rock music as a hobby, are still learning and simply go to college, or have a part time job, and thus don't have nearly as many responsiblities as a lot of the older individuals do here.

I would feel more comfortable attending more structured Open Mics, and ones that are active during the daytime on the weekend. Think about how American Idol is structured.

Craigslist is NOT an option for me anymore due to the fact that I got banned from the site back in early 2011. And back when I first started using it, during 2008-2011, my requests kept reaching either guys who were way too experienced and career minded musicians, or those who gave the impression that they JUST picked up their instrument and just started learning.

I DO have some music on my Bandmix profile, but it's ONLY in the form of video. I do not have proper equipment to record audio. I'm stuck using sound recorder and the built in Mic on my HP Laptop, and that isn't good quality because it picks up background noise.

After reading your profile, it seems what you're looking for is to have friends to hang out with. I suggest you make friends first, then ask them if they want to play music. You could teach them.

I tried that intially at Baton Rouge Community College, and at TWO churches, but I could never find any guys in their 20s who liked the artists I covered. And during that time, the people who I made friends with couldn't even play a note of music, and were also duds for networking to find such musicians. Currently, the only place where I can make friends is through websites like these, because I am no longer going to college, and I don't have a job.

Second, I'm trying to find someone more advanced than me, who already knows the basics and thus who I can help me polish up some of the songs I'm still working on, and can help me move beyond playing covers. I don't want to waste time teaching someone less skilled than me.

Take lessons from an instructor. Instructors have other students - ask the instructor to introduce you to the other students - better yet, ask the instructor to offer a band class where multiple students practice a few cover songs together as a band. Many places are doing that these days.

I'm already taking lessons from an instructor, and well, his students are either kids or are touring/gigging musicians, and into heavy metal, hard rock, and classic rock and who play guitar. Of course, that's understandable since he teaches guitar, not keyboard.

I've been taking lessons from him since about 2006, and he hasn't been able to find anyone who fits what I'm looking for, and of course, the lessons also take place within Gonzales.

I'm looking for keyboard players, and I'm looking for those who want to form a collaborative project or one-on-one sessions, not a band. I'm looking for guys like Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, or David Archuleta, but unlike them, those who do NOT play music as their job.

I've noticed that in the Baton Rouge musician section of Craigslist, there aren't very many teachers advertising their service anymore, otherwise, I'd be e-mailing a bunch of people left and right.

At first I thought he was a serious musician - then I saw his video and read his profile. I know where he's coming from now, so it doesn't bother me to try to help someone like him.

Cliff - hang in there and be patient is all I have to offer at this point. Seems you're in a pickle given your current level of playing and circumstances. Stay away from dating sites though - there's nothing but misery there for you :D

Thanks. I have been doing just that, but it's getting pathetic. It's important to know that the kind of music I play is not very popular amongst most of the local community musicians around my age.

Another important thing is that since I'm legally blind, the guy who's interested will need to be willing to come meet me and provide a more suitable place to play since my paretns are home most of the time, and since there isn't a designated music room. I never know whether to put that in the request or save that for when the person contacts me.

Why would you reccommend a religious forum, (and a dangerous religion at that) when I'm trying to find guys who play keyboard and who enjoy playing GOOD pop and soft rock music and where I can more easily connect with individuals closer to my age who are likeable individuals and not afraid to show their sensitive side, and who believe in God and Jesus as their savior, but are not necessarily church going Christians.

Also check out this topic for an example of things I don't want to get caught up in:

http://www.the600club.com/topic67774-1.html

I want to talk about what I like about a given artist, not get into debates or comparisions. I hate it when people say that a certain artist is Satanic, when really they don't understand the meaning behind the song and video. Some people try to overanalyze everything and are not smart enough to do research to understand that given artists own religious background.

Another example when people get all uptight over nothing is Adam Lambert's performance at the AMAs.

STOP making excuses and taking advantage of others. Learn to be considerate of others.

Also note that not all pop music is dance music. You have good singer/songwriters as well, like Matt Nathanson, Andrew McMahon, Adele, Christina Perri, John Mayer, and many more.
