So the open mic I play at on Tuesday nights got a notice saying that the city has just adopted a new noise ordinance - the sound coming from the bar can not exceed 65 decibals. Anyone else have a city ordinance like that? 65 seems pretty unreasonable to me. Maybe for some areas that are right in the center of a neighborhood, but it's such a sweeping low level, it doesn't make sense for this particular bar as it's right on a 3 lane street - the cars going by far exceed 65 decibels.

unfortunate. I hope this is something that can be fought/waived for certain locations like the one I attend.

There was thread on here not too long ago that cited the same type of ordinance somewhere in Ohio. I think the major complaints probably come from the adjoined businesses that might be a different venue.

1) Clashing neighbors Band A vs Band B, etc
2) Band A stomps over serenity of Boutique, next door.
3) Just some asshole pedestrian who looks for way to start trouble for people who have fun...

almost every bar in England is like that. They shut down live music at 11 PM

Except for a couple of places in Camden where the bands play literally underground in a basement.

man - what a hassle. I guess that's where the term "underground music" stems from... Well, anyways - I think I'll buy some land in the middle of no-where and build a stage - if you build it, they will come, right? :D

....Sir Jam ... you are not wrong to feel outrage and the confusion and surprise come from not being aware of what has been going on all around you for quite sometime now. I mean this not as insult to you. There are literally thousands like you who are just beginning to be "touched" by the Great Manifestation and becoming aware of it. This is good. The noose has been slowly tightening and unlike the Overton Window it never slacks even a little bit. All over the US this has been happening for quite sometime.

England has always had such laws but now they are being enforced even in the remotest of Scottish Country Pubs/Inns. But.... Britain is not "The Land of the Free" is it ? The 4th of July has long been a shame it is just that most do not know it and many more do not care as long as they can barbecue and drink, don "their" teams jersey and proceed to make fools out of themselves screaming and yelling about nothing like some small child when in reality that is exactly what they are a "large" and at most times now "a very large "small child.

None of this crap is "the American Way" ... the real American Way is to stand up and be a Man in the face of threat and through responsibility be aware of what is going on around you so one may protect themselves and family and most importantly "eliminate" any threat to such.

I know that you most probably will take exception to what I say but I urge you to think about it and not let what you may think about me colour it nor your free thought and critical thinking. Ta

That's Right! (IRS, DHS, FCC, FTC, FDA, EPA, DOJ, and all the other family you might otherwise have avoided)

An ordinance should have nothing to do with decibel levels. It should have everything to do with the tonal quality of the "noise." I would prefer an ordinace like this:

"Within city limits we will not permit atonal cacaphony. If your band sounds like a truck full of pigs crashing into a truck full of bowling balls it will be banned from live performances and fined $1,000 per occurence."

I wish it were only a 1000 fine - the owner showed the notice he received and they could actually close his bar for violating it! Tack that onto the other dozen ordinances and inspections he has to go thru to keep afloat. It really is outrageous. I would like your ordinance a lot better, but I fear my playing might fall into the violation bracket!

. Speaking of a "dozen ordinances" THAT is the biggest problem our entire culture faces. We can't even scratch our own butts without consulting with an attorney first.

NO SHIIT! I don't see many people with enough balls to stand up to this crap. I see way to many sheep. The worse ones actually stand up and applaud when a man is told to sit down and shut up. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

I WILL NOT LIVE IN CHAINS. I WILL DIE FREE! Clear enough. Any questions?

Now give me my 32 oz big gulp bloomberg, you fuucking traitor!

Like I said, we need a bunch of attorneys telling us that we can't consume a Big Gulp. Haven't we got more important issues to legislate?

Vampier, Glen

You boys talk tough about standing up to the man. I suppose I do as well. But What are we doing?

Just recognizing the desparate situation we are in is something I guess but how to influence it positively? how to push back?

There are ballots and there are bullets. The former have no meaning any longer. The latter? Who you gonna shoot?

I don't know what resistance comes in between ballots and bullets but I don't see any. I guess we can push back constantly and keep pushing but don't see a future in it.

We're in a real pickle.

...Mike, very well stated and your point is very well taken. Regarding myself and what I am doing ...firstly I try to reawaken as many as I can and even further awaken the mass of others who quite often seem to be lost causes. You are correct as it is a very desperate situation and it has been for quite sometime now and it is worsening rather rapidly.

How to influence it positively ? I am an Artist among other things and this is one of the areas in which I possess some power. Therefore as I have stated here I am putting together "The Band" and have written what will be my last show/production. It is my fondest hope and most determined intention that this will reach, unite and motivate a great many individuals throughout the world to as you so well say "push back". My Wife and I were very inspired when we saw a film called V ...the Guy Fawkes one.

I personally believe that ballots were from their conception always part of the game of distraction and that demonstrations are never very effective and that now they will be only ultimately death warrants self-served.

Hence the Armie of Seven. A Band dedicated, talented and devoted enough to galvanize many other musicians and artists as well as inspire "the common man" to unite and organize and "push back". A line must now be drawn before the bullets do fly and the "push back" must begin in earnest. The line must be drawn with a sword not a pen. This "push back" must be aggressive, coherent, directed, strategic as well as tactical and deadly effective and quick. Where I come from there have been many instances where law failed, justice failed, government failed and vigilantes were born from the desperate frustration. Their actions resolved the problems but often with what is today called collateral damage and/or casualties.

It is nefer perfect but what is ? Certainly not what we have now. Who you gonna shoot ? At this point you do not yet need to shoot anyone. Who are you going to "persuade"? Who are you gonna kick out, impeach, dismiss , put to trial, imprison ? Just turn on the so-called news or underline their names in the local, regional, national and international papers. Compile the lists or should I say merely copy the lists...there are those who have already started. Sharpen the teeth of the Constitution and go for it. The blueprint is there compliments of the Founding Fathers.

Yes we are ALL in a real pickle and it is now at this moment a simple matter of survival. It is Ragnorok if it goes unchecked much longer.

It starts with inspiration of self and then as many as can be reached. There will be blood as there is always blood. Life is blood. It will be the Warriors who lead man from animal state to enlightenment. It will be the older Warriors who inspire and lead the younger ones ... guiding them, teaching them and showing them by example the way.

There will be murder, assassination and struggle but with all this and the death it brings there will remain Freedom. As it now stands there is only greater more devious murder, assassination and futile struggle with more death than there has ever been, more torture, more imprisonment and absolutely no future or Freedom.

I can not speak for Glenn but I would be honoured to stand beside him. His heart is pure and he is a Warrior not a coward. He is not afraid to speak and he feels deep. Ta

Isn't this funny,,,
I attacked Vamp brutally, go back to the beginning of this thread.
I thought he was just another moron spouting a bunch of crap.
I WAS WRONG. There I said it. I WAS WRONG.
(any way Vamp, your wife is gorgeous, and you are as lucky as I am, :) )
At this point in time I just pray that we don't descend into anarchy.
Let this be heard LOUD and CLEAR to any one reading this.
DO NOT HURT PRESIDENT OBAMA. Put your minds to work and understand that this is a referendum about your FREEDOM. About the GREATEST FORM OF GOVERNMENT that was ever conceived.
Your freedom was never guaranteed. 236 years ago our founding fathers,HAD THE BALLS TO SIGN THEIR DEATH WARRANT. They tried their best to give every free man opportunity.
Now
You know,Vamp,,, I don't agree with everything you have brought up,BUT!
Thank you for bringing some GREAT THINKING to a forum that is FREE OF CENSORSHIP!
BAND MIX,,, THANK YOU GUYS TOO! Music is about LIFE.
