You are one smart dude, I will give that much credit. Funny, in interpersonal relationships you are very good. I don't remember giving you any lessons, but we seem to have gotten the sorta same rule book.
If you are going to engage some one because you feel are right, DON'T BACK DOWN. Accept the full consequence of your decisions.
I felt you crossed the line because of the way you presented yourself.
Then you started in on personal attacks, of with some you started to back off. Man I don't give a Damn. But I will call you out. You have a very cool way of personally attacking people, while you stand off and avoid all responsibility.
Ok. How did I rip you a new one?
You got some great original material,,, and you are afraid to push it out.
That just proves to me you have too many excuses. I did that right in front of your face and you didn't even catch it. You were to busy attacking me.
Funny thing is you and I would probably get along great if we met face to face.
I just don't allow any B.S. in my world, no matter how much any one wants to hand me some. That includes MY government.
No Glen Im too thick skined to get into some sort of personal debate with you. You mention my responsibility levels, come on whats that about?
Original material, my stuff is mine, I dont want any outsider tainting it. I played in original bands for years and whenever i brought something to the table it got morphed into something that I didnt care for. So for me my originals are just my ideas at a certain time in my life, so I record all the parts myself, so in the end, whatever my song is, it is me, I have no excuses for that, if it sucks then I accept that, if its great then I accept that. It is what it is to others. So why at this point in my life would I want to try to get a bunch of substandard musicians around to present my musical vision? It would just get fughed up, and it wouldnt be in the end what I would want to present to anyone, the way it is now, I present my music warts and all to whoever wants to listen to it. So I think in my own way Im more responsible than most people with thier original stuff, I accept it, Im confortable with it, and in the end my only responsibility in it is for me. If someone likes it fine, if not fine, it doesnt change the way I write or think of my music.
I play in a cover band, a really good cover band, and for the record we do a few originals and even get request for them. Big deal to me, Im not that attached to them, but there is nothing wrong with them, But what we do is bascially covers, weve been together off and on for right at 25 years now, we have an audience that wants to see us, but they have certain expectations for us also, we agreed to a certain fee to play a few years ago. I share that all the time, $600 a night, 4 ways thats $150 per man, I really thought that when we did that the gigs would dry up, but they havent, people pay the fee and we perform for them, this weekend we are doing a big gig for a couple having thier birthday partys, I gave them a list of around 300 songs and just asked them to hilight what they would like to hear, last friday we got together and went thru what they sent us, and are going to play around 10 maybe 15 songs that we dont ussually play. To me thats being responsible to who pays you, I dont get where Im not responsible in that. We dont take the people for granted and expect to play our pet songs or favs all night long, we play what they want to hear so they will hire us again in a few monthes.
Glen I went on your player yesterday and agian this morning. You have some awesome chops on the guitar, however and this is just my opinion, the most original thing you have posted is the joke metal song you put together. It sounds fresh, it packs emotion, or to my ears more than the other too, they tend to in places just be doodling on the guitar, or something that I would do to warm up, or maybe when we get into one of our live jams the kind of things we would do live in the middle of a song to entertain ourselves.
Im not slamming you when I say that, its just my observation.
You mention me and Jimmy being a tag team, I dont get that, I have a respect for Jimmy and his music, but he and i have some major differences on say guns, also political, and probably would have some big differences in religion if we got into that. So although he and I have some huge differences in many areas of our interest, I think we have or at least I have a huge respect for him as a musician.
Back to reponsibilty, Scott says Im a politician, yeah in real life I have to deal with a lot of different people, customers, employess, stock holders, two kids, a new wife, and ex wife, band mates, people into the band and all the drama that goes along with that, plus I am involved in racing motorcycles, just cause I love em.
Enough about that, I think Im a pretty balanced person and logical in the way I view things so sometimes I feel the need to call out on a board like this someone or people who are maybe getting past the point of being constructive, or positive. I mentioned this in a thread and really wasnt pointing my finger at you, just people in general who do that, but you took it personally so be it then. Its one thing when I see a guy like Lynard(who in my opinion has some sort of major problem, Im not going to guess what it is, but theres something going on there) lose it on a forum, I have some sympathy for that, but when I see another fairly balanced person like you lose it on people, its just hard for me to grasp that, cause I have a lot of respect for you as a musician.
Maybe this explains my point of view on things, maybe not.
But still you didnt say a thing about me that even got a rise out of me, its just your opinion on me, someone who you really dont have a clue about, and in saying that I know I really dont have a clue about you either.
