Artist, Steve Edwards, of El Paso, Tx was a distinct painter, etcher (Ink Press drawings) and sculpture. He did it all his life and his work can be found all over the southwest in homes, airports, galleries... remote cantinas...etc.

Steve was to me: a mentor , a friend... Though we were not blood related...he pretty much was family to me..He raised me... on so many fronts...Was there for me when my own household was in turmoil and chaos .

If you can imagine a cross between Donald Sutherland (with black hair) , Whistler and a Mexican John Lennon... You could imagine what Steve looked like...

I loved Steve like a dad. He was a peace-maker, a prankster, (the likes of which nobody could top... (Oh the stories I can tell! ). He would give you the shirt off his back...He took in a lot strays...Never let a fella leave his house without a fill of beer and a meal... He was in so many ways the epitome of bohemian.

Though Steve was English and prolly some cherokee... He fancied himself as a full blooded Mexican...He did so, to immerse himself into the culture so deeply, to capture its essence for his work. He had the respect of many people in the Hispanic Art community here in El Paso (most of his peers are very old timers now) . Steve is the only artist around here to pull it off...Everybody, who didn't know him personally, thought he was a Mexican...

He died of Lung cancer a few thanksgiving s ago... I miss him immensely...

My whole project effort with this CD "Homemade Remedies" stems as a tribute to Steve. He is the reason I got off my fat ass to do this...

My deepest regret is that I didn't do this when he was around...

Anyway...
"The Muse" is posted on my profile (with lyrics..).as usual, its just a draft ...Embellishemnets come later.. The song is Part A of an A & B pair. The second song Titled "Drawing Me Closer" is a voice on behalf of Steve, when he was going through his final days before he died. (I sang it at his memorial) Steve knew he was a gonner and never told a soul until he landed in hospital on his last days )

Anyhoot thought I'd share this... Hope you guys like it...

PaperDog ... very touching and Deep... a fine Tribute. "all the magic of your muse" awesome concept and expression. One must never forget those who have "touched" them in such a way. The memory alone is a Tribute but some are fortunate enough to have touched those that are not only capable of memory but also creation and perception. Well Done Ta

Much Thanks, Vampier. Edwards taught me many things about life... I think that without him in my life, when I was growing up... I might have ended up in prison... or someplace not becoming...
My Tribute is from heart.

It sounds like Hollywood should make a movie about this guy, a fascinating character indeed, shame he's gone. Nice song by the way.

Dawg! Great song as usual! Sorry for your loss! It's one of those things you just learn to live with because you never really get over it!

Song has great potential! I just gave it a quick listen this a.m. Possibly a change-up beat/rhythm bridge would add something to it?

Thanks!

Actually Its Part A of an A & B set of songs (B will be the switch up). I'm deliberately keeping the song very somber , hence, no up beat... But I can see what you mean...

Dog, between you and Yod, you guys are great songwriters.
Every time I hear one of your productions it gets better.
Your vocals are straight forward, down to earth, and becoming more memorable every time you sing.
Thanks for sharing your music,,,, GOOD STUFF!!!!!!
