Yup.

Bandmix is not for those who take themselves too seriously. If you place yourself in high esteem you probably wouldn't care to be here too long.

Some of these folks bite when provoked. :) :)

yes Nick, you will find that this forum is just that, a forum, and probably will do nothing to promote your musical career, but might hinder it if you stay here long enough, LMFAO..

I am not a full member but people have been checking me out. They sometimes don't have contact info. I think there should be a 30 day trail to see if people do connect and it does work. Only then can you run a survey and see.

TJS 1,

I am sure you are hoping to be contacted, but I wonder if the problem you are having is because you have no link to your music or no music posted so no one knows what your skill level is. I think that would help you get the response that you are looking for. Only my opinion.

I did not mean this as a knock or insult to the BandMix forum, to clarify myself, I meant only that spending too much time here debating hogwash could take away time from actually creating music or whatever.. I doubt very much there are music company executives coming here scouting talent, so this board only supplies participants here with a cheap entertainment, there are no fees to participate in pissing contests etc.

Dane I resemble that remark (About pissing contests) ...

BTW... If one wishes to engage in musical based dialog, it kinda helps to throw in specific questions. Like: "How Did Jimmy Page come up with that lick?" or "Does a blues song always have to be 1, 4, 5 format...Why cant it be 2,6,7 format? "

If you're asking questions like "What was your first instrument..." then the odds radically increase for a verbal show-down.

Some, as myself, enjoy the variety if topics on this general forum. Bandmix also has a good many forums dedicated to music only. Personally, I never go to the music only pages of any site. As far as taking me away from playing, I find Bandmix an enjoyable break from wanking on my axe. Occasionally there are songs that sprout from some of the topics posted here by forum members.

OH Wook! I taught I taw a music executive. Huwwy kwick and catch him. Maybe we can get some music contwacts for our tunes. :)N :)[/quote]

It's funny how many people don't have any music linked or posted and expect results. And it's very easy to include contact info in a free profile listing, just write out the email address: joblo at blome dot com.
Frankly, I have checked out linked music for some 'hopeful' musical partners, but may not have heard what I liked, so didn't contact them. I'm sure the vice-versa applies, too. Making music is a very soul-baring exercise (if done right), it's hard to find people to do that with.

To Me, It seems that Online 'anything" is a crap shoot. I came here originally, looking for a bass player...The truth be told..I really came here to bitch, moan and complain about not being able to find a bass player in my town. I hung around to build some camaraderie with other musicians, which in and of it self is more valuable to me than locating a musician for the sake of filling a hole for a band. I would not have it any other way. I have discovered that I am tempted form time to time to solicit online exchange of tracks with some folks here, whom I have become positively acquainted with... The odds of Meeting a musical partner here is most likely higher when we feel free to discuss pretty much anything... How else are you gonna know if you are on the same page? I'm just sayin

...good question and excellent Posts in response. I believe that BandMix works very well as evidenced by the response and use alone. This includes the Forum but I do agree with Glenn in that the Forum is somewhat distinct. BandMix is brilliant as are many of it's members ... even those that do not agree with me. It has special qualities, of course nothing is "perfect" but I believe that BandMix is as good as it can get. Ta

TA, Its good to see you back!!
Band mix does work to some extent. Locality is a very big issue.
I just thought Nick came up here to show us what a great Christian rock musician, player, he is and kind of, have to rub it in our faces. ( he is a good player, but be a bit more Christian in the way you put us down)

The more I see the way you have dealt with stuff like that, the more I see you are good guy, Vamp.

If you don't need any musicians, then Band Mix won't work for you. Simple logic. If you want to be a part the forum, this is the wild west. Give it you best shot.
I don't know, that was an interesting presentation. :)

I never put anybody down in anything that I have said in the posts here. I just wouldn't do that. It is an unfair fight to try and defend myself in this forum with text.

I am a Christian; it means everything to me. I never said anything about anyone not believing the same. Please, do not make assumptions about my character. No one here really knows me. I simply asked a question to hear if anyone had any positive feedback about this site. As well in the second post, I wanted to clarify that a response from the people that you contact would be nice. I would respond; even with a "no, I am not interested." It is a matter of respect.
Am I really rubbing anything in anyone's face? I have no idea what that means. I like my music; I hope others do but I am not in the coercion business. Ultimately, I am only concerned with one person liking my music other than me, God. If I had NO music on the site, what good would that do to potential players. Remember, my goal on here was to find players.

So here it is... Be blessed folks, didn't mean to cause a storm.

You did nothing wrong... I'm a Christian too...But make no mistake, I get my spiritual hands dirty...and I'll take that up with our father , when I finally get to meet him. :)

In the meantime, this forum is a bit of a Spartan training ground... In so much as verbal salvos get launched intentionally or unintentionally, keep in mind these two things:

1) Nobody goes home bleeding
2) Nobody 'really' hates anybody.

On this site, you will be challenged by believers and non-believers..

As an Ambassador of Christ, my job (And I have been explicitly told by very credible holy authority) is to not misrepresent Christ, guised and dressed as a Christian... Rather, I am to represent Christ, righteously, by setting example, 'in the face of, and In spite" of my sorry , imperfect self." I do this best, when I abandon the fear of getting dirty (Something many wimpy Christians cant wrap their heads around) ... For in Christ, the dirt is washed away...and what remains is the child he wants me to be...

Your amongst friends here ... even when it seems a sh*t storm.
It's just the nature of the site and strong willed musicians whom inhabit it.

Being Christians means we know the true path to salvation ... it don't make us perfect.

A quick introduction, my name is Dave and I haven't really used bandmix for a long time. I paid for a few months way back when and didn't really get anything out of it. At all. To be fair, I didn't really try very hard, and I live in lancaster, pa., not exactly a mecca for serious, devoted musicians. I only wanted some jamming friends and limited myself to only certain contacts. Now, different day, different year, I am looking for something more productive, so, I'm going to try again.
Before, I was looking for all kinds of players, you know, drums, bass, keys, etc. Now want I'm looking for is more specific. My number one on the list is a singer who wants to actually work.
As to actually paying for bandmix, well, that's kind of laughable. $10 a month? LOL. Don't get me wrong, if I actually find what I am looking for and it all works out, I haven't a problem with paying them, I'd be grateful, and I'd subscribe gratefully. And I don't mean to say I just want free help. That would be nice, but, yea, that just ain't gonna happen. And I also don't mean to say that I won't pay unless I find someone. What I do mean to say, is, why would ANYONE pay bandmix $10/mth when for $15/mth you can join bandvista and get premier bandmix included.
The only thing I don't like about bandvista is 2 things: 1- the lack of a links page to go to the actual user's websites and the broken links (sites that don't seem to exist anymore, 1 out of the three featured) on the 'featured' artist links on the front page promo of the site, I mean, come on, the very first link on the feature goes nowhere? (How often it this updated? Who is taking care of it? Anyone anymore?) and 2- this is the biggie: GigLeader.com, try to go there and it re-directs you back to bandvista's web site. Does GigLeader.com even exist anymore? If it does, does anyone have a good experience with it?
So, I put this out there to all of you: is this really worth it? Is there anymore than 4 people actually using this?

Hear me: http://www.bandmix.com/theguitarpicker/
