My daughter sent me the new Neil Young CD "Americana" for Father's Day. I listened to it this morning. Here Neil puts new twists on classic American songs such as "Oh Susannah" and "Get A Job". He also does an interesting take on the traditional "Gallow's Pole". All the studio chatter and noises are left intact which makes it sound like the band is playing live. Yeah, he put a good twist on some of those songs, that's for sure. They are touring soon, too - ticket prices are ridiculous, though. $250+ for floor seats at Boston garden, $140+ for side seats. They charged the same amount for much smaller intimate venues last year when it was just Neil solo.

Well look at it this way, you get Crazy Horse for free!

I'm getting neither one. It's a Monday night show in the city. Never seen Neil solo, although I saw him with CS&Y in 2002 - $120 then for the whole band at the same venue.
In 72 I stood in line outside the Music Hall in Boston for hours for NY tickets, only to have a sign go up on the door when I was within 3 people of getting in 'SOLD OUT'. I bought 20th row Ten Years After tickets instead!

I saw Neil solo a few years ago and he was amazing! But yeah ticket prices are getting outrageous.

Worth every penny... Young, Macca, ...all the heavy hitters... Those guys defined modern music . When all the assholes came in behind them, that music got significantly devaluated... When the Napster Shitheads came in behind that, the music got buried and devalued even further...

I dont blame these guy for jacking up the tickets.. They're making up for all the lost sales eaten up by the kids who think everything should be acquired for free.

The most I ever paid for a concert was $120 for Peter Gabriel, 13 rows from the stage. But worth it.

I've never paid more than about $20 for a concert. I lived through the heyday of classic rock concerts so not many new bands are that impressive. Seems like the last arena show I went to was Clapton in the 90s, saw Trapeze a few years later in a large bar.

I like catching a show in a small club whenever possible. Thinking about driving down to Austin to catch Johnny Lang tomorrow night...

I was lucky enough to catch Neil and Crazy horse at a Horde festival with the Blues Travelers and a bunch of great acts for a day of music , heat and humidity, and lots of pretty things to keep my wife mad at me. On the bus ride home I realized I aint as young as I used to be. Thanks to the wife for winning the trip thru a radio station it was free... My memory wont let me figure what century it was in but I think it was like 1997.

The last concert I paid to see was a festival here in Cola with over 60 bands over 3 days on about 6 stages. Cost us 65 bucks a piece for all 3 days. My favs were BB King and Peter Frampton. ARS and Mothers Finest kicked ass too.!
Too bad it was the last year they put it on after 3 or 4 years. I thought it was a good thing for the City to put together.
After they built the convention center they charge big bucks for concerts a working man like me can't afford....

Last night:
Ringo's "All Starrs" show, floor seat, row M $65 (Bank of America Pavillion, Boston).
Matthew Sweet and band (with an opener), general admission, $35 (The Paradise Rock Club). I caught the tail end of the show (my wife was there for the whole thing).
These days - those are 'cheap' tickets!

Not just jamming - rocking hard AND loud! From the back of the crowd the volume was just tolerable for me, but my wife was there for the whole show (and didn't put her earplugs in) and her ears were ringing bad.

1st time I saw them was Sept of '86
Had no clue about Neil or Crazy Horse ....
Fake cops came on the stage - stage was set up like a garage - and told them to turn it down .....
