Oh, you'll always be 'Glambert' to us!
There does not appear to be anyone here on these forums who likes the kind of music you do or is in your area.
Ever hear the saying 'don't beat a dead horse'? You've been beating it so long there's nothing left.

Sir, forgive me for being persistent, and trying to talk some sense into a few of these jerks. I was just trying something.

Oh, so were jerks now? I guess all that even keel schlameil you been touting was just you blowing smoke up everybody's asses was it? That makes you a hypocrite... Please go away..

Stop taking this so personally! I mean, really, some of you get so uptight over nothing! That was just a general observation, based on my overall search, and not just limited to the people on this forum. The "jerks" I'm speaking of include the majority of people on Baton Rouge Rocks who would also do a lot of the things you guys do, such as resorting to trolling, or making jokes at my expense, or quoting cliches, or giving unecessary lectures, instead of taking the time to respond with wisdom and intelligence. These also include individuals who respond impulsively to posts instead of giving my intended audience I'm trying to reach a chance to respond. Thus the trolls who respond, and thus my reaction to said trolls, might in fact chase away the audience I was trying to reach.

Thanks for the feedback; but I think there are a few things you don't understand.

Friendship is the central theme, while playing and working on some great pop and soft rock songs is just ONE out of a few other activities I would like to do with these special friends. I don't want to play with just anyone. Everytime I take the approach you are hinting at, SOMETHING goes wrong, and I get slightly annoyed and then end up having to let him go, or the person interested turns out to be the jerk.

I do understand that friendships take time to form, but the idea is to reach guys around my age (20-early 30s) who don't have a lot of friends, but are intelligent, and expressive and know how to get along.

I understand.

I understand that this is a music site ... want friends you will have to make em the old fashioned way.

Or transfer your account to E Harmony.

DATING sites are NOT the answer! Why can't you see that? Take this from experience. Back around 2010, and 2011, I tried OKCupid, and a lot of the people on that site had VERY poorly filled out profiles, and the musicians I did come across were more into classical music, and those who were into the music I enjoy (Madonna, Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, Pink, etc...) DID not play an instrument or just picked up the guitar or keyboard and just started learning, which are also the people I'm trying to avoid reaching.

I'm trying to reach the middle ground. In other words, guys who have enough knowledge of the basics to help me polish up some songs I'm working on and who can show me how to do some new stuff, like recording, and playing around with electronic music creation, but at the same time, guys who are NOT WORKING as musicians, and don't already have a full blown band.

So, in short, I need to use a site that's kind of a local version of Bandmix + E Harmony. In other words, a personals site for those who also play music.

Clifford, Its obvious you don't know what you want... so how could anybody else know? You just post here to be annoying. How about you get a life? Stop pestering the musicians on this site.

I DO know what I'm searching for, otherwise, I wouldn't be here, and I wouldn't take the time to explain so much stuff. But what I'm searching for is going to require intelligence, patience, love and understanding.

What I'm looking for is going to require me to reach individuals who are more willing to ask questions to get try to understand the personal preferrences both in terms of music related attributes and personality. It's also going to require effort to network with both non-musicians and musicians and to reach individuals who understand why I'm not comfortable going to bars and clubs, and people who are able to understand the appeal of pop and soft rock.

I also came here to have longer discussions about music venues in my city, and other free musician personals sites and to learn from other musicians experiences good and bad.

That doesn't appear to be very common here, and also this board doesn't seem to be very active.

So I'll give things a chance to calm down here, and let my request on my profile, do it's job.

We'd all love if you would just understand ...

DUDE ... it's a MUSIC SITE !

Nobody ( with the exception of you ) is here looking for a buddy.

When you let music be the focus you will develop life long friends as a natural course.

If you persist in the lost lonely boy behaviors all you will get if frustration.
Or worse, some mean son of a bitch will take advantage of you.

I try & try ...

This is the last time I'll try to help ... you just don't listen.

I'm reminded of the movie: "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest". Martini, who was delusional (Played by Danny Devito) ... Couldn't catch on when a hand in the card game was over...

I hear you LOUD and CLEAR! As I've said in past posts: I am SORRY for bothering anybody, and I'm sorry if seasoned musicians like you cannot relate.

So, with that said, can you or someone else please direct me to a much more appropriate website, one where I can connect with amateurs and intermediate level musicians, and ones with better moderated forums? It would also be nice if the forum had a couple spots on them where I could talk about non-music related topics, like science, video games, and well, other intellectual stimulation.

Also another thing to look into when reccommending a good site is to check the activity level of the forum. Currently the forums on this site are not really all that active. Not counting me, there's usually one or two other guys on the site at any one time.

These are just a few things that would make this search so much easier and I could be on the way to finally finding the success I've been searching for since 2007.

I'm not playing anybody! I'm not like the guys who treat these places as a playground to harass people or make jokes. I came here to converse with guys around my age who play pop and soft rock music and to learn about other websites and if possible, learn about other venues and music stores in Baton Rouge from guys within my area.

I don't understand why, but currently people just have a negative attitude and are treating me as if I'm the scum of the earth or just plain ignore me. This is not limited to just this board, but also from a local standpoint as well. I am sorry you guys are such attention seekers, but seriously, people, learn to post with wisdom and love, and talk to me if you have a problem.

All of this craziness was caused by simple missunderstandings and how other people handled those missunderstandings.

With that said, are there any friendly guys left on here who can help me discover a more suitable website to continue my search on or is that sort of thing against Bandmix policy?

From the houses of the holy, we can watch the white doves go
From the door comes Satan's daughter, and it only goes to show. You know.

There's an angel on my shoulder, In my hand a sword of gold
Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow. You know.

So the world is spinning faster. Are you dizzy when you're stoned?
Let the music be your master. Will you heed the master's call
Oh... Satan and man.

You only see what your eyes want to see
How can life be what you want it to be
You're frozen
When your heart's not open

You're so consumed with how much you get
You waste your time with hate and regret
You're frozen
When your heart's not open
