Please, tell me your honest opinion about how my request is worded on my profile, as well as the music (in video form only) that I have on my profile. And if something I said sounds kind of creepy, let me know how to say it in a way that doesn't come across as such. Also there are some things I want to put on my profile, but am not sure whether to put them in my profile or not.

Also it would be nice to know how to prevent my request (online or in person) from reaching highly seasoned musicians or those who play in bands, while still reaching musicians who can help me learn some new skills.

Also on a side note, are there any other free sites like this site that I can use in addition to this site to expand my audience?

Cliff ...

There is really nothing wrong with your profile from what I can see right off hand.

And I'll try this again ... you cannot nor do you want to limit the scope of your contacts.

Networking is being in contact with people.

Advanced players know others whom are just beginning as is the opposite also true.
There is no magic formula outside hard work and putting yourself out there to find compatible players.

You might even be lucky and find someone like our bassist whom is a professional level player but he wants to work with us because we have returned the magic and fun of making music into his life. And we benefit from his experience as a trade.

Now a little critique if your interested.

My name is Clifford. I currently play pop and soft rock covers for fun on my keyboard. At the moment, I'm not interested in working in music or in joining a band, but rather looking for a few good friends to get together with to polish up and work on some songs and learn some new skills and start creating some originals.

Once we develope a solid friendship, I might be interested in putting together something more official.

Repetitive wording and spelling errors can be distracting from your theme.
I might add that "friendship" is something that will develop without your actively seeking it in your text.
And yes that can come off a little creepy

Remember, your looking for people whom are primarily interested in a compatible working relationship in music ... therefor music must be the total underlying theme.

..."music must be the total underlying theme."

Thanks for the feedback; but I think there are a few things you don't understand.

Friendship is the central theme, while playing and working on some great pop and soft rock songs is just ONE out of a few other activities I would like to do with these special friends. I don't want to play with just anyone. Everytime I take the approach you are hinting at, SOMETHING goes wrong, and I get slightly annoyed and then end up having to let him go, or the person interested turns out to be the jerk.

I do understand that friendships take time to form, but the idea is to reach guys around my age (20-early 30s) who don't have a lot of friends, but are intelligent, and expressive and know how to get along.

Sir? Please, stay cool. I am not here to bother anybody or to upset anybody or to waste anyone's time.

It would be a lot more helpful if I could talk with some individuals around my age here, who have music tastes similar to mine, and actually make some friends here, and where we share ideas and learn from other's experiences (good and bad).

My name is Clifford, not Glambert. By the way, a Glambert is someone who is a big fan of Adam Lambert.

I have good intentions on this site, and I'm willing to wait for the people my topics are aimed at: The more conservative posters who avoid swimming with the sharks, and who like me, are willing to share their experiences (good and bad) and just talk, even if it's something they need to get off their chest.

I have noticed that there are not very many registered members who visti this forum as a whole, and that posting is currently very sporadic anyway.

If there isn't anybody like that on here, I'm sorry if I bothered anybody. I'll just simply let my request on my profile do it's job, and ask around elsewhere.

You guys should know better than to make judgements like that. The name you see is my REAL name. I didn't change my profile or anything.

And why is on any music message board, I always seem to reach individuals who are always on edge, and are always on the defensive, instead of individuals who like me just want to talk and share their experiences (good and bad) and who are actially looking for friends.

Ugh! Where is an actual report button when you need it, or a hide trolls button? That way it'll filter responses from people who come here just to get a rise out of someone. I spend WAY too much time fending off trolls and other internet bullies, which leads the audience I'm trying to reach away from the topic.

As I said in an earlier post. If there isn't anyone with the personalities and the intelligence I've been trying to reach here and talk with on this forum, I'm sorry for bothering anyone.

Oh, you'll always be 'Glambert' to us!
There does not appear to be anyone here on these forums who likes the kind of music you do or is in your area.
Ever hear the saying 'don't beat a dead horse'? You've been beating it so long there's nothing left.

Sir, forgive me for being persistent, and trying to talk some sense into a few of these jerks. I was just trying something.

And note that the people I'm trying to reach on my profile and the people I'm trying to reach through my forum topics are related (musicians) but are at the same time disctinctly different. The people I'm trying to reach through forum topics can be people from a different city or state, and can be solo artists types, whereas the people I'm trying to reach through my profile need to be guys who live right here in Baton Rouge (for convience) and preferrably guys who don't have a lot of experience playing out and are not committed to any big music projects.

Also on this forum, it would be nice if I could reach more guys who are willing to let their guard down and like me, talk about their experiences in music and friendship, and show a more sensitive side.
