One of the greatest American singer/songwriters has died of prostate cancer. If you aren't familiar with his music, I suggest "The Innocent Age", an amazing set of songs that I would rank high in my top 100 albums of all time. We will miss you Dan.

Yeah there goes another chunk of my adolescence. He was a great songwriter whether you liked his stuff or not.

Fair winds and good journey, Dan.

I stumbled on something about that last night, was sorry to hear that Dan was no longer with us, he was never a great favorite but was a terriffic songwriter and singer and did a few things I liked really well.

Apparently that song is about his dad, who really was a band leader.

Dan wrote very personal songs, and that song is about his family. I was lucky to have seen him in concert many times and he was amazing, moving deftly from piano to guitar. I urge all of you to get "The Innocent Age", it's one of those albums where every track is perfect.
