Do you mind if other musicians want to use your equipment?

I got drunk.
I ate.
I was hanging out.
It was hotter and wetter than .., well it was both of those. lol

This chick bit me like ten times and the next day I realized she drew blood.
(I kinda liked it)(heh)(she was crazy)

The worst part about it is she came with a friend of mine, so I didn't "run her up the flag pole" but I considered it.
He's had some raw deals in the past with women and I just couldn't dirt him by pushing up on some woman that HE brought, but it was heavy on my mind..

She ruined my cotton shirt though. (who cares) lol

My one "buddy" took it upon himself to use a combo amp I brought and of course, the douchebag blew one of the speakers in my Fender Bassman Ten. (gj asshole)

I have that look that says "mi casa es su casa".
And then I told him if he ever touched anything of mine again without asking, I'll break his hands and his head. (and I meant it)

As soon as I got done telling him, one of my other buddies popped up and asked to use my equipment and I told him no. He slammed the door and went back down to play with HIS equipment.

Do you mind if other people use your equipment?
I absolutely hate it. It's like they are saying that the chewy goodness that you produce via your instrument is due to your equipment and they can do the same WITH YOUR EQUIPMENT AND NO EFFORT AT ALL>.

To that my reply is very simple, "step off jackass".

I will let people that i know use my gear from time to time, but only if I know how they are going to treat it, never had any problems since I was 17 and a dude blew up my amp at one of our old pratice places. I wouldnt loan out a guitar, but have let some guys used amps from time to time, but like I said I have to know them well. otherwise its just a big fat no!

I had a great weekend.

Cooked out friday night, rented Red Tails, hit the sack early, then got up sat morning and went to the lake with my wife and kids, we went to my parents condo and ate a boston butt.

Sunday went on the lake for about 4 hours with my folks and kids. I also wired my parents tv for surround sound in thier new condo they just bought, sounded really good. Watced a little bit of Ghost Rider, and my wiring worked great.

Monday came home, and rode my new motorcycle for about an hour, went swimming and grilled pork chops, and had a couple of margaritas.

Watched The Last Legion, great movie if you are into that sort of thing.

I worked my ass off in an understaffed hospital Saturday and Sunday.
Monday I drove to Texarkana to scout the location we'll be playing at next Sunday.
The trip netted me $108.03 in fuel cost.
A ruined tire on my F-150.
A short trip the wrong way up a one way street in an unfamiliar city.
And eight hours of nausea from a fish sandwich at Burger King.

The up side
I found the gig location.
God led me to an open tire shop on Memorial Day where a kind Mexican gent sold and installed me an exact replacement tire for $35.00.
(I did not even have to get my hands dirty.)
And I spent the day with the most loving woman on the planet.

All in all ... not too bad.

JW, you are still riding after what happened to Crip?

I am selling my 1987 Honda Hurricane CBR 1000F, too many morons in NJ to drive it any longer.

I also think that when things get good, you run a very good chance of getting KIA'd.

When you're miserable, you live forever. lol

"Touch with permission only!" I do let other players on my gear but I prefer to screen them first. I want to see that they will respect the gear and hopefully wont buckle rash the Tele any worse than it is, or drop the SG, and check that they washed their hands after they wiped their azz. :P

Holiday weekend was pretty kick back. I worked on the fun car a bit, straightened up my workbench (not to be confused with clean), repaired the vacuum cleaner, helped my kid install her new cartop surfboard rack, taught the mutt a cool new trick, went to a BBQ with friends on Monday. Low key and low stress.

Saturday evening wedding gig I subbed on bass in a clasic rock band.
Sunday I didn't do much, slept mainly.
Monday some shopping then made a trip to Clinton Reservoir, fished until dark. Had a few Smallmouth Bass on, a big surprise. They just recently started stocking them.

Capt, I ride dirt bikes, not that its any safer than a street bike. Im fortunate to live on a big farm and I can hit the trails and dirt roads and ride for an hour or two without ever riding the same place twice.

Of course I love to race dirt bikes too, I did one the weekend before last, and wound up finishing 4th out of 12 guys in the 45+ class. Two of the guys used to beat me when I raced a lot, one other guy has really stepped his game up from when I stopped racing 4 yrs ago, but I was suprized that when the gate dropped the old reflex's took over and I actually led a lap. But then my arms gave out and I wisely backed off to a more comfortable speed.

I guess I have a side of me that is an extreme personality type, while we were at that race, a couple of the guys in the past couple of years have come to some of my bands gigs, they didnt even know I did that. One of them said man you got the coolest life, you get to be a rock star, then you come out here after not riding a bike for a couple of years and kick our butts, plus you have a wife that looks like a playmate. I dont really think in those terms, just do what I do. They dont even know that Im a business executive on top of everything, most of my riding buddies just think I hit the lottery or something and dont even work! LOL! In a lot of ways I do feel like in my life Ive hit a lottery.

Don't assume that just because you can do it, it ain't no big thing. I've been noticing lately how people I've bumped into on line or work or music all seem to have larger than life stories.

I love it - a wild and wacky lot of folks out there if you let yourself know them. (Bandmix types tend to I think). You of course, are one of them! :D

The trick is to recognize that and enjoy having that gift. Not an ego thing - you just are that.

Yeah I love dirt bikes as well, but I raced a local hair scramble a bunch of years ago and some guy kicked my front tire and sent me spinning into a hay bale, amateur/novice/whatever class no less..

After the race was over, I decided to have a chat with him and explain to him why kicking my front tire/engine block could cause him to become a candidate for dental implants.

I happened to be holding a large stick so it became a production and the track even had to get their 2 cents in, so I am no longer welcome.

Honestly after that crash and seeing how serious these douche bags can get over a basically meaningless race, I had no more interest.

I don't want a broken collarbone because said dick weed decided that he needed to impress his gf du jour with a top 3 finish.

RACE CLEAN OR NOT AT ALL.
