" What size stage do we need to build for you guys"

I was so taken aback I had to call her back with the base dimensions of our home sound stage.

That's a great question George.

After playing hundreds of gigs out in the hot sun, blowing undersized circuits, getting seriously zapped by faulty ground wires, and playing on drum riser "postage stamp" sized stages, we put together a performance contract. In it we now include basic specs to be provided for our band including covered performance stage area, sound, lighting, and electrical requirements, whether the band will be fed dinner or provided drinks, load-in times, out-by times, dress code and acceptable payment methods so everything runs smoothly, no one gets hurt, and there are no misunderstandings.

Having answers to these common questions prepared in advance makes your life easy and gives the band credibility when things go right instead of wrong. For more on this google "Van Halen brown M&Ms"

Played a 5' x 8' stage one time - me in one front corner, bassist in the other, drummer between us. Keyboard player was stuck on the floor. PA cabinets on floor, no monitors. Not a good situation for the sound.

Well with our variable PA system we can go from a very intimate setting like a living room to larger venues or even out of doors.

There are presently five of us counting Steve's son Austin on percussion.
My home "sound & light stage" and portable mats arrange @ 14' x 14'.
And we are very comfortable in that configuration.

Though we like to set our monitors and mains just outside front & back of that so lets say optimum is 16' x 16'
