Comp died taking all of my latest stuff with it, hence my quiet period
I think I can get it all back with a special cable turning the HD into a USB HD, so I'm not too worried.

There is supposed to be a daily backup, but either I failed to set it up properly, or it just doesn't work
Everything for a reason and all that. I had just about completed the last track for my CD.

Anywho, keep well and backup, backup backup :D

Ecchh thank god you didn't lose your material(s), I know how that goes.

I need to buy an external hard drive quickly before my current system takes a poop on me.

Good to see you, Chippy. lol

Backing up files .... something we all need to spend more time doing. It takes away time from actually creating and playing, but look what happens when we don't do it.
Problem with automatic backing up of music files (WAV, FLAC, etc) is that you don't get playable files. Backing up music project files, works, though.
I usually burn all my project files to DVD-Rs as backup, and burn music-playable CD-Rs of all the WAV files, even though I have a USB hard drive for backup too.

Yikes The ultimate in horror stories... For what its worth, I burn a copy of each session I do, onto a cd... , onto a folder in my PC, onto a Backup drive, and in rare cases Onto a dedicated thumb drive...

I figure if we get nuked tomorrow, the cockroaches will have something to listen to from at least one of those 4 storages

Scott

You can grab a data stick for chump change. Your important stuff will fit on it.

Reminds me - I'm due to update mine...

Thanks for the replies peeps.

Nah it isn't that bad and is the first time this has happened. The last time was when someone stole my bag of tapes with material I'd written over the last 20 years of more. I got over that, I'll get over this. Everything for a reason and all that.

@ Scott. Thanks Scott, yes I think you should given what is going on in the world...... ;-)

@ GuitarMikeB. I agree it's a chore really, and nothing is truly a safe way. I heard even CD's have an agreed life of 10 years, not that I believe that in all honesty.

@ PaperDog. Hahahaha. Cockroaches indeed. Are all of our houses full of crap we created over the years? Seems so huh? :D

@ Sans. No idea what a SD Card is? Do they have those on the old Shutttles now residing around America?

@ MikeTalbot. I've had trouble backing up my stuff. I work in Cubase and Linux. Saving files in Cubase is not very organized. It constantly backs up which is great. But if you make a mistake in clearing sound files to save space, beware. I've had it dump entire wave batches ughhhhh!

@ Glen. Doing ok pal, thank you. Weather is getting better after a very long winter here. You?
