I carry extra of everything from fuses to power to guitars because i expect to perform what im to do, had a player start out good and then went from pawning stuff to borrowing things and the last straw was when he pawned his guitars and would bring put together versions of guitarstein that would go out of tune. I dont mind helping out when needed but when it affects the music and productivity of the band, have to take care of buisness. Surely some of you have had this or somewhat happen to you all, tell your story. thanks

Hilarious! Reminds me of my old drummer, his kit was constantly in disrepair. He had to fix his hihats or kick pedal after every song. Being a musician ain't cheap.

No, it certainly isn't. Which is one reason I started a thread awhile ago about how we do ourselves and our colleagues a big disservice by playing too much for free.

world of music. The keyboard player in my band now had a major problem with two bandmembers from his previous band. He became their pawn shop. He would pay them each week for an upcoming gig. They would leave all of their equipment with him. After that band split up he still ahd a bunch of their equipment (which we practice on to this day). It's not worth putting up with deadbeat musciians no matter how well they play. And there's a certain number of druggie musicians who will always have equipment problems no matter how much money they make. They're going to put most or all of their money into booze or drugs. Trying to be in a band with them is ALWAYS a losing proposition. Later...

I worked for awhile with a keyboardist who pawned his Kurzweil and bought it back so many times, that I suggested he get the pawnshop owner to make the thing it's own shelf. I finally got tired of not knowing when we could work due to his being in possession of his keyboard again, and gave up on him. Too bad, he was a very talented guy but later just got lost in the morass of booze, pills and....gag..robitussin.

Robitussin?! Bleh! How do you get lost in that, I cannot even take it when I am sick (I rather suffer).

Bleh. Forget that, man. *Thumbs down* That is like drinking rat poison.

I lost a band-mate to Robitussin, too.
I won't give out any details about it.
But, it's pretty weird way to fry your brain . . . do too much of that stuff, and they'll put you in a hospital, under watch . . .

Sorry about the loss, man. These days people will get high off of anything you give them. Sooner or later most of these druggies have the same fate, sadly enough. I am glad I am not into drugs, I never had an interest in it. I do not like drinking either. Life is a sad thing at times, that is for sure.

It's so common that musical talent and common sense often do not go hand in hand.

My worst experience was many years ago, I got a call and was asked to fill in for some people for one gig. It was a party at a house in the country somewhere.

In the middle of the gig the cops came roaring in and arrested the lead player. Seemed they had just raided his home, closed down his grow operation and arrested his brother who gave them his location. They confiscated all of his guitar equipment on the spot, based on a list of hot stuff stolen from a music store in another town. Totall wierd. So we played for the last couple hours with guitar, bass and drums and winged it.

*Whistle of shock* Well, I think I would be done after all that, man. Lol. That is pretty bad if they take away your lead guitarist in handcuffs. If I make a band and someone in it is doing drugs, I am buying a big broom and whacking him over the head (Using the stick part, hurts more, lmao). Neh, just kidding. But I would be pretty mad. I would not want to be involved in that kind of sh*t. I am not getting busted because someone decided they wanted to "Feel good and relaxed." Relaxed my ass. Go sit in a jacuzzi if you want to relax, drop the darn weed.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

It's called a "RoboTrip" and personally, I don't see it.

May as well grind up Blue Morning Glory Seeds and eat them.
