I didn't think Jesus went to hell?

He probably didn't fit in down there.

Just behave the way you are supposed to and all good things comes to those who wait.

Yes it's nice to observe religious holidays, but the big guy really wants you to "walk the walk" not so much "talk the talk".

That's what always bothered me about some Catholics, they do horrible stuff until Sunday. They go to church, go to confession and do it all over again.

No, that's not going to wash exactly and the big guy is waiting for you to make it right. Everyone gets what they deserve in the end.

George - you really nailed it in our post.

As to pagan traditions? CS Lewis spoke to that better than I could - the works of God seep into every man's life and while the pagans may have gotten wrong - they knew that some big things have happened.

Were Christmas and Easter dates selected arbitrarily or to confirm with dates already used by pagans? Perhaps.

But we are celebrating the birth and the death / resurrection of Christ and those are the most important things that ever happened.

He is risen!

A good Catholic (person) doesn't act that way and the church certainly doesn't expect one to act that way. There's a word for such a person-- hypocrite.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

For you Pastafarians, Happy Flying Spaghetti monster holiday. :-)

Happy Easter
What ever the origin of the word, Easter, is not associated with any pagan tradition and dose derive from any.
We celebrate Easter today because Jesus was crucified on the Jewish passover as is documented, the passover predates any greko/roman paganism by about 500 years, possibly more
The intersection of these two events was completely intentional.

We could go back to the Sumerians which
ppredates Jewish culture and religion.
Can you say Gilgamesh(not sure on the spelling)

Many scholars say that the Jews got there religion,
passed down from the Sumerians who came before them.
I'm not a scholar, and not a very religous christian
anymore, but there arguements seem to hold
some truth and validity. Think Lilith Fair and you'll
see how the Sumerians views are now seeping into
are society.

this statement would seem to indicate your not a christian at all.
and there is certainly not enough information in it to carry on any real conversation about redemption and the forgiveness of sins.

Maybe I'm not a "real" Christian,
and I'm not asking for forgiveness
or redemption.
And if you don't want to acknowledge the
existence of the Sumerians and the shadow
they cast on Jewish history, I fully understand.

Are you better than me cause you consider me
not a "real" Christian. Jesus died so you could
judge my christianity, sir I think your right
I'm probably not a christian. Maybe I never was,
I just bought into it for years than one day I woke up
and said this is all bullsh#t.I'm honest with myself.
I always thought Heaven and Hell were opposite, I
sure like the heat better than I like the cold. Like the song
says ' I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the
saints.

Christian are so clickish, I'm looking to go to a heaven where
it's warm, and the churcheys can go to church, and the rest of
us can run around the edges, living in the light.

it's possible you are a "Christian"
just a very angry one.
that's
the nice thing about Christianity any one can claim to be a part, then say anything about it.
it's very accommodating that way
