I suppose this could very well be a racist killing.
Of course that would be an hispanic man killing a black boy.
I have heard that hispanics are not favorably disposed to blacks.

Can't really see where that confronts me in the slightest.
So you might see where I do not see this as a racist event.

It is unfortunate that the newspapers jump on this with their agenda of selling newspapers. NONE of us were their. LET THE INVESTIGATORS do their job. Then we can do our armchair quarterbacking on the issue. I love the way the press has made this a WHITE vs. BLACK thing. The suspect is obviously half hispanic. I don't like the GUT feeling I have on this. Having said that I'll wait to give my perspective until ALL the facts come out. I just wished the president would do the same. IMO he should lead, tell LOUIS FARIKHAN, Jessie Jackson and their ilk to shut up until the facts come out! He won't do that because their are too many political points to be scored!

BINGO. Same crap happened after the Duke lacrosse rape case. Everybody needs to wait until after all the facts or potential trial is over.

JW123 ... excellent post and quite relevant to what is going on now....I believe. Slackers take as usual is pretty ironclad as far as it goes ...as usual. I heard the 911 recording which further confuses things. I agree totally with the "gut" of Haley in that there is a very bad feeling that this entire affair is destined to become much more than it is. I say this not making light of the death or killing but I feel unlike the Rodney King thing it is going to be pushed farther. The so-called "Mass Media" are nothing more than mere tools ... look at who owns all of them so you know what they are up to is manipulation and the use of lies are often used to achieve this ... look at their track record. There are very strong attempts to inject "race" into it. There can be no doubt about that after what the so-called president said ... this alone was quite out of the ordinary judging from what has ever occured in the past. I think almost everyone agrees it somehow "stinks" and therefore it has a hidden agenda of some sort that goes beyond the more blatant and obvious one of simply causing discord between the masses. Everyone's perspectives were interesting and relevant and this seems to further justify that several years from now this will not be remembered in the same way as the Rodney King affair but will be "made" to be something quite more. I live near Memphis Tn, and I get up every morning with my wife and we drink some coffee sit on the porch and then catch the early morning news, mainly for the weather, but almost every morning the breaking news is a shooting and more often than not, someone dies.

They google a map of the city for most of these shootings. If you know the area its easy to know what race is involved, not that Im siding one way or the other, but in my area there is daily news like this, and many times it was between an unarmed person and an armed one, none of these storys pick up the attention of the mainstream media like this deal has.

This is just one of those polarizing events, with very little grey area depending on how you look at it.

Maybe I dont know what Im talking about, but it seems like the young man was walking thru a gated community, he had been thrown out of school at the time, he was going to his dads GFs house who lived there. The shooter seems to be some sort of neighborhood watch person, with a gun. I think I read where he called the police and they said they would get right over. Then some sort of altercation happened, between the two. One got beat up and one got shot dead.

The media has already convicted the shooter and much of the publics minds.

We may not ever really find out what happened.

Anyway as I said , I didnt mean to offend anyone with what Ive written, but there is a lot of anger and fodder material for some music in all of this, that brings it all back to music.

For some reason and I guess its my age when I see marchs and protest I always think back to concerts and music relevent to the times, and I guess this is one of those times.

What do I think?

I was avoiding this story till JW brought it up.
Took me only a few minutes to uncover some revealing information.

None of us have any factual information to even be discussing this issue intelligently.

Sans is right on. We are all getting told so much crap on all sides. I wouldn't even say we know the tiniest bit of the truth. But the fallout with people rushing to commit any sort of self administered justice is just amazing.

Well, we all are very cavalier about how we will put a bullet in someone then trot on home.
like as not when this is all over, this young scared inexperienced Peruvian handyman, will be going to the prom with bubba. with a Queen song playing on the intercom.

Most recent leaked evidence would indicate little Treyvon is a habitual criminal, drug head, and the aggressor.

This is all you really need to know - the Zimmerman guy on the phone to 911, after he was told that police were on the way:

Zimmerman: "sh*t, Hes running"

Dispatch: "He's running? Which way is he running?"

Zimmerman: "Down towards the, uh, other entrance of the neighborhood."

Dispatch: "Ok, which entrance is that that he's heading toward?"

Zimmerman: "The back entrance."

Dispatch: "Are you following him?"

Zimmerman: "Yep."

Dispatch: "Ok, we don't need you to do that."
