I ussually dont post subjects other than music, but I was wondering what others thought on this situation.

When this story first hit the news, the picture of this young man was a cute school picture. And it sounded like a vigilante gunned him down in cold blood.

Of course then all hell broke loose, NAACP, all these groups wanting to crucify the shooter. Im near Memphis which has always been a racially divided city, so they even had a March there for this young man.

Yesterday, the news showed a picture of him with his hoodie on. Didnt look anything like the nice little school picture that was presented for days and days on my local news.

Also a friend of the shooter, who happened to be black, said that his friend was walking away from the man, when the young man attacked him. He said it was self-defense. I understand in FLa there is a law that allows someone to shoot someone in self-defense.

Now this story stinks from all sides, I am a member of NRA and support having the right to bear arms, just the way I was raised, I feel I should be able to protect myself, my family, in my home. I dont carry a gun around with me, I personally wouldnt want to lose my cool and maybe shoot someone.

I was just curious what others on this board think about this situation? One of the young protesters said this was the first major protest of thier generation. Im old enough to remember Kent State and things of that nature. Rodney whatever his name was in LA back in the 80s.

I may not have my facts straight on this and if I dont forgive me, but is this a situation for musical protest's and such, or what?

well it's always a mistake to try a man in the press, cause the verdict will depend on what version sells the most copies.

that being said,
I would find it very difficult to side with the shooter, unless it could be shown that the kid was in possession of a deadly weapon.
at least a knife.

my father was a policeman for 20 yrs in DC. all through the riots and the rest.
Drew his weapon over 1500 times, but never shot a man, basically because he was never shot at.
I could tell you stories of fighting, kicking, beatings and god knows what, given and taken.

If this guy couldn't disable an unarmed teenager then he must a have been unqualified for the job he was undertaking, and in his fear he shot him.
It seems improbable that if you point a gun at someone that doesn't have one, they run toward you.

But in the dark of night many things could have occurred.

It is unfortunate that the newspapers jump on this with their agenda of selling newspapers. NONE of us were their. LET THE INVESTIGATORS do their job. Then we can do our armchair quarterbacking on the issue. I love the way the press has made this a WHITE vs. BLACK thing. The suspect is obviously half hispanic. I don't like the GUT feeling I have on this. Having said that I'll wait to give my perspective until ALL the facts come out. I just wished the president would do the same. IMO he should lead, tell LOUIS FARIKHAN, Jessie Jackson and their ilk to shut up until the facts come out! He won't do that because their are too many political points to be scored!

For whatever reason, people are being manipulated into a frenzy by the race baiters. It's probably best not comment at all because they want to see a race war just in time for the election.

The major media has alway been biased but what they do now is criminal. General Electric owns NBC and all of its subsidiary media (MSNBC, etc). They were the largest contributors to Obama and also the largest recipient of stimulus money. Coincedence? On top of that they paid absolutely $0 in taxes. Oh yea, they are in bed with the DNC.

This whole thing is a set up. Someone is trying to provoke racial violence and our illustrious President is supporting it. That in itself is enough reason for all of them to be arrested for inciting violence, imo.

The Department of Propoganda (NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc) have lost all credibility for many years now. I wonder who actually believes anything they say anymore?

The evidence shows that Zimmerman was doing as the police told him. He stopped following the kid and was getting back in his vehicle when the kid jumped him. The kid had him on the ground punching and beating his head into concrete. That, my friend, can kill a person as quickly as a knife or gun.
Zimmerman had a broken nose, grass stains on the back of his shirt, and huge bruises on the back of his head. Have you heard that on the lame stream media yet? There was a witness who say the whole thing but that has only been reported on FOX for whatever reason. The Department of Propoganda has been reporting that there were no witnesses. That's a lie.

Trayvon was high, angry, and aggressive. If you jump on someone under those conditions then don't be surprised if they don't just take it lying down. When all this is over, we'll see that this "kid" caused his own death but the race baiters know that already and it hasn't stopped them from stoking the fires.

in all cases, shooting an unarmed man is always suspect.
And the shooters story cannot be taken as a fact, I'm not saying his version isn't true, but it cannot be said to be a fact.
If the police have evidence that his story was accurate, well i suppose that will come out.

it is easy to speak calmly about these things because we were not there.

Haley dont worry I dont take offense to what you said, in fact its been a long time since I took any offense to what anyone has said on here, Im just that way.

YOD did you say that a witness has confirmed the shooters side of this? that could change things up, but it wont calm it down by any means. I didnt see that report, just the friend saying that he was defending himself.

JCP I would say it is a race issue, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, its definitely all about race.

I dont mean to offend folks on here, but it is what it is.

The sad thing is that if this young man was on drugs and attacked the shooter in the end, the media wont say a word on that it will just die out.

Im not judging either side on this, because I wasnt there and see what really happened, thats whats so crazy to me, that some folks can just get on one side of the band wagon without even knowing what happened.

well for me it's not a race issue, and I can't find anything in it to make it so.
the only people who can say, as far as I can see, are the two people involved and one of them is dead.

I think a lot of people on both sides of the issue want it to be about race.

for me it's about vigilantism, and to my mind a rather piss poor attempt at vigilantism.

For me it's very much like Waco,
A crazy was standing alone in a distant field with guns, and a fool went out to confront him.
you might think that was about religion, but I think it was about poor judgement.
And lot of people died who never should have.

The liberal press did its best to make the shooter look like a villain in every way while posting pictures of an "innocent looking" 12 year old next to his, to imply that he shot a little kid. Now the press is reporting that the kid had burglary arrests and other criminal brushes with the law. So why only pictures taken 5 years earlier? What was the motive in that? On one broadcast they had a split screen behind the narrator. The little kid pic was on the right, and a pic of the Mexican was on the left. The kids pic remained as was, while the pic of the Mexican slowly "crept up" from a small pic to a menacingly big pic. As if he was sneaking up on the kids pic. What a bunch of low life propagandists we have for the "news" media.

This is obviously more about the Left wanting more gun control than a shooting. Not? Just listen to the politicians spewing about it.

How come the guy just didn't pistol whip the kid?

I mean, at least the kid wouldn't be dead and douche bag wouldn't be looking at a long stretch in jail.

There was a time, when Police were respectable, and citizens were respectable... Now, Citizens have become dis respectable, an the police have adapted likewise... Society ALWAYS gets what it deserves...
Iraq had Saddam for 40 years (nothing being done about it you could say they deserved him..) Then They got freedom cause they deserved it... Always..Society gets what it deserves... If people want the police brutality to stop, then they need to teach their kids to be respectful of the laws... It's not rocket science. And if anybody disagrees with this... Consider the following.. Your kids are better off having a policemen beat their ass to the ground than having your neighbor come at them with an RPG...
