It's a good start.

If you were to switch your 'B' part, from a first person perspective to something else, I think it would take away the grey area - people wouldn't be inclined to feel all weird about you, the artist.

Hey Cappuccino, go home...Its over...
(...and pull up your pants!).

It's funny how, if it's clear that it's someone 'else' in the crowd, or whatever, saying those things, and not 'you' - well, that makes it palatable.

Just my thoughts.

One thing you folks NEED to Learn about TEXAS BLUES! Damn just listen to Pink Floyd! you don't have to be so dissonant and you don't have to play a MILLION notes a second! It is about SPACE! Come on guitar pickers let a note BREATH (spacial)

Here is an example WATCH & LEARN?

Damn, I love Gilmour.

It's really not fair to measure any of us up against him, as far mastery of space goes...

But, I getcher point.

I believe that one way you know when you've got something good musically (or lyrically) is that it has a polarizing effect on people-they either love it or hate it, rather than being apathetic about it. Your work has caused a reaction, which is what art is about. I give your song two thumbs up. You made some ballsy statements, you made some people angry, you made other people feel righteous (or maybe indignant).

I'm not even going to critique the music right now. I think you smashed what needed to be smashed (that's a compliment, BTW).

Heart ? Do you even have a pulse?

I don't mind that you hold a negative opinion about my work... Its your prerogative... But What baffles me is how patently ignorant you are about it. Seriously, dude... Why don't you try to offer something useful, other than the dribble you've been puking out on this thread... ?

Otherwise, ... please go back to your white-bread cave over there and pretend you're a rock star in whats left of your own bourbon infested mind. (The make-believe MTV video crew awaits you ...They are just dying to use those eerie webcam-standard effects on your crusty old image. )

Thanks GT.. I totally see your point and its actually pretty tempting...But I'm gonna take the heat.... The prose is what the prose is... I make no apologies for it... 8)

look you stupid fat bastard,
musically , you couldn't carry my music stand.
so, you write a few lame folk songs, best I can tell it just the same dumb folk song in 2 versions, 5 times. ooooo you bought a capo!!!
now we get to hear it in super cool and unusual new key.
that is until you figure out you can't sing in D major
so you figured out that f and Bb go together, and after some golf applause you think you are going to talk to me about music?
what a f**k'n joke.
I'm sure the coffee shop is already bored, your so completely uninspired and uncreative you have now taking to topical TV news spots for ideas.
I can see why!
singing about your fast ass self didn't take off,
and your latest grade school effort won't go any farther.
nobody reads your long winded, out of context rants any more than they go back to the well and hear another round your dreadful plainsong.
why I don't sound like you?
or should i say why can't I play like you, cause I would have to have a frontal lobotomy before I sat down to compose.
besides I moved past that stupid childish crap 25 years ago
take the capo off your brain.

as far as the rest of you guys go,

yelling at your tv set and then shitting your pants is not art.

no matter how good it makes you feel at the time.

I liked it.

It's true I would have liked to see more guitar activity, but it's definitely good.

Woa! Well I guess I owe you a thanks! 8)

Paper did you really think I wouldn't tell you if I thought it was good? :(

No-no-no-no.. !!!!!

If you're being "difficult" and post something I don't like, I may say nothing, (you know, let sleeping dogs lie and all that) but I usually say something anyway. :)

But if I liked it, you owe it to whatever and whoever is on the other side.

I mean, how can you write more quality music if no one says anything about it?

I read the lyrics and I may be shallow but I didn't get racial part.
That's ok though, sometimes I don't see the forest for the trees either.
(And I pulled my pants up too!! lol)

PS: As far as the guitar takes, I end up having to do them a few times.
Then we talk about which one we liked, (if any). lol

The only thing I ever got in one take was that vocal that was reminiscent of Zappa at the front of the last one.

Don't let the world chew on you, it has big teeth. Every day is a new day.

Paper I just got a chance to listen.

When the vocals start Bob Dylan seems to come to mind.

Musically I love that little underlying guitar riff you are using, the cleaner guitar, it gets stuck in my head.

I think the lead tones fit the song, there are a couple of places where you are doing a little lead fill behind the lyrics that dont seem to fit to my ears.
You might could try to melodically trace the lyrics with the guitar if that makes sense. It seems to be a song that draws attention to the lyrics and when I hear a little discordant guitar it takes my ears away form the lyrics.

Anyway just my gut reaction on first listen, the makings of a good song to me.

Good Job

I like the progression, I didnt dig into the lyrics to hard.

Are you being an asshole just for the fun of it? That's where fecal art comes from.

If you have ever written a lyric, you can show off your brilliance anytime you'd like. In the meantime, there is no reason to tear others down to make yourself feel better. It doesn't work anyway.

Paper I let your player run and I think I personally like Ballad Of Paper Dog the best.

I dont get the race comments, but to me music for the most part is colorless.

Thanks JW ! :) re 'Tracing' Yes, I think I understand what you mean... (I usually refer to it as "parallelling")...Which is basically playing out the melody either along with the vocal melody, (or in lieu of it , depending on what part of the song) . (Is that what you meant? )

re The racial thing.... I'm telling everyone now LOL! It was not my intention to make a racist statement or imply 'racial' commentary... It was more like, I'm looking to capture an urban dilemma and offer some righteous escape... LOL!
Beyond that,I don't even know what I mean any more... Ha ha!

Ballad of PaperDog...That was a fun song... ;)

Scott , I like that last statement "Every day is a new day"... It smacks of Optimistic thinking, which I whole heartedly respect and up hold... If this is truly your perception, Then I not only owe you a thanks, but I also owe you big apology (for my contemptuous prose last week). :)
