No sh*t ... someone is delusional. Obama is as evil as a man can be and still be human.

I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie [Ray Vaughan] missed on both counts, but I never noticed.?

B. B. King

for some it's about space, for some of us all that matters is that we didn't steal someone else's licks.

Really? Dude, I like some of your stuff..but every last bit of it has Zappa, Beck and McLaughlin written all over it... (Yeah , I do my homework) Now, my point is very simple... You will be a very wealthy man, if you can actually come up with a new variation that hasn't already been done. I just think you haven't given yourself due permission to make something valuable out of your lead guitar playing skills... Never the less, if we aren't getting paid to do this... then it is entirely for fun...

JC, You are completely wrong. In fact, Where I suspected it in the past, I now firmly believe that you lack artistic any degree of competency and interpretive skill. Scholastically speaking, that borders on epic fail in my book.

Clearly you have brought your own suitcase of ties and baubles to my song.

First off, How dare you insult us with your racial epitaphs. This song is NOT about promoting racism...In fact, its quite the opposite... Its a song of compassion...and humanity... But you probably don't have the capability to grasp that... (You are either a savant with the guitar, or you have Asberger's Syndrome...and I am banking on the latter)

If you had taken notice of the three verses, the conclusive parts of the prose, (the lines in parenthesis) add up to a very simple and righteous calling.

The fact that you completely missed the inference to the Jewish community (you were OCD on black folk, which clearly has you out to be the real bigot here) just tells me how self -absorbed you really are...locked away in that DC metro mindset, that seeps all over your postings.

I only say these things to you, because you are the one spewing out non-sense about "propaganda"

But I do wish to thank you for stirring up the contraversy... I made you 'look"... and that's a worthy accomplishment in my book :)

Cheers!

Much Thanks Jeff... I truly appreciate it.

THere are many valid points about the Guitar licks...

ME , being inexperienced in lead guitaring...had assumed a conservative, perhaps overly cautious approach about the leads. George and I discussed this considerably...
We did not want it to become too 'busy'...But admittedly, I dont know when it's enough.
My goal here, was to use the licks as underscores for certain lyrical magnitude... and let the lyric and bass carry the seething strength.

Technically this song is not finished. The areas that I believe need to be cleaned up are:
1) The breaks: This middle eights... THose need a real viruosity of guitar soloing.. I am cluless (but practice to figure out a way..). I have a young feller who can shred with the best of em... I'll probably ask him to step in there.

2) The last section... Its a giant gap,. begging for more guitar underscoring... That section will be modified to include a 'slam poetry' reading (of urban tone), which, by the way will offer the "other side" of the story... (It was intended in the first place)

Jahva wrote:PD,
My honest opinion is it's not your best work but then again you've set the bar pretty high so far. And I look forward to your finished product.

Musically it's a good guitar-line I can see as others have said there is room for more licks especially towards the end. But over-all it has a nice darkish bluesy feel to it. But not as special as your other tunes. imo.

As for the lyric... speak your mind. It made me feel uneasy but life will sometimes do that to you. I didn't get anything positive out of the lyric. Not that there has to be but I missed the happy ending.

Tupac made me feel uneasy at times. I believe that was his point.

I have a friend at work who raps. He tells stories of what he has seen even if it's the ugly side of life he speaks the truth as he has seen it. That's how it's suppose to be, even if it offends someone. Life is sometimes offensive. I wouldn't call you a racist from this but it walks a line were people will consider it controversial. I'm sure you can see why some would view it as racist. It's the world we live in.

Much Thanks for you inputs, Jahva.

I truly respect and appreciate your statement about your sentiment surrounding the song's degree of 'special. I only ask one small favor... Give it about a day's rest and go back and listen to it again... I want to know...specifically if it grew on you. :) .

I agree with the consensus about the licks... and I will fix that ( Read my response to Jeff).

The controversy... LOL! I had not expected that... Funny you mentioned Tupac... His music (among others) actually has some bearing of influence in this song (I always went crazy over "California Love") ... I was always intrigued by his (and Dre's) style.

While the song never intended to be offensive, it has somehow struck a raw chord with some folks... (I know of one racist on these boards, who is completely put out...and drawn out from underneath his rock.... Ha ha! ) ...

Thanks so much, GuitarMikeB!
Admittedly the song has much of the Traveling Wilburys influence behind it... I cant I help it.. I loved everything they did...I love everything Harrison has done... and what is soooo cool about him and them...is that in their material, one can really learn the principles of good song-writing. Hell they practically handed the magician tricks over on a silver-platter.
