Wow, at first I thought I was watching an episode of ER where they roll in a casualty victim... Then it morphed into "The 2nd Trimester" Life series... Finally, it blossomed out into a beautiful instrument, replete with the wings and presence... Nice Job dude! :)

Wow! I missed a lot... .

I have to agree, master Jedi, that's a sweet guitar...and unique. That has a lot of draw for me as well.

have to admit that I've never been a vintage guy, I think Fenders and Gibsons are great guitars, but they just don't have a massive appeal to me. Keep in mind, that I'm not much of a guitarist.

GtZip, I think you see where I'm coming from as far as the build is concerned and I'll definitely check those out.

JCP61, Great question. I've noodled with guitar over the years, but my ability is pretty limited. Part of that is due to the fact that I never focused much on it-bass being my main instrument, but also because I just don't get the same comfort level as I do with the bass. I have enough musical knowledge that I feel like I should be able to do SOMETHING on an electric guitar, but when I try, the results are pretty amateurish. I guess I want a guitar that supplies me with the comfort and confidence to play leads and just sound good in general.
I realize that I just said I want a guitar that makes me sound good, and I know that's not how it works... . Seriously, though, when I play bass, I feel creative. I feel good about what I'm doing. I get a similar effect with the acoustic guitar-it feels strong. And then, I plug in the electric, and I hope that nobody hears the crap I'm "trying" to play. Hell, I can even come up with a decent lead-on the acoustic. On the electric, not so much. Maybe it's not the guitar at all-it's just me.

well then that just sounds to me as if you just need to work on making the transition,
your hands and mind are used to making music a certain way,,
fretboard length, string distance, number of strings and so on.
you can't have that automatic attack that you are used to with the bass
I relay don't think you will find a guitar that make that easier.
but you might find a bass that would.
such as.

I think you need to attack the guitar as a lead player would and block the bass player out of your mind.
you would probably find that it will fall into place fast.

think about the difference in the piano and the violin.
The real difference between these two aside from the obvious, is that the piano proper is not capable of expression beyond sustain, thus making more in the family of percussion and classical composers actually refer to it as a percussion instrument.
whereas a violin can be ultimately expressive, very personal.
the bass guitar is far more of a percussion instrument, where as a fully equipped electric guitar is much closer to a violin
if you get my meaning.

I love that Alembic! Always wanted an eight string, too. And your point is well taken, especially in regard to the nature of the instruments.

Approach probably has a great deal to do with it. It's similar to the issue I've had with vocals. In th studio, I'm always focused on the composition aspect of the music, and that makes it difficult to perform freely. Unfortunately, much of my recorded vocal work sounds kind of like how I said my electric guitar playing sounds...weak. Over time, I have learned to approach it as a "singer" would, as opposed to the writer, bass player, etc. As a result, I've become a better vocalist. I can certainly see how this applies to my guitar playing. Thanks!

joseph6 - Cort, in the 70's, was the Cortez guitar company. They changed their name. They mostly make cheap copy guitars but also made a couple of high end ones, the CL1500 is probably one of the best they ever made and has a pretty good reputation. Compar5ed to their usual $200 copies, it retailed for around $1100.

Mine is identical to that one

Love the amp photo JW.

All I'm using is a lunch box size head. Not impressive to look at but when you put a couple of thousand watts behind her ... she gets plum nasty.

JCP that Glod Top is an interesting guitar, long story to it.

I dont take it out any these days, its a 1972 model, it had humbuckers in it, someone routed it out, then a guy redid it and I got a hold of it, actually I sold it to the guy with the humbuckers and then saw what he had done to it, and bought it back and didnt even know it was the same guitar, kinda twisted.

I have an OLD SUNN MODEL T head, hook that guitar thru a tube screamer and it just kills tones like Miss Queen, or AC/DC rythyms, but those P-90s are so noisy that when I plug thru my Mesa it just gets to noisy for my taste, so I just leave it at home. Its real heavy weight wise compared to my others.
