1960 Les Paul Classic Reissue, I dont know why, it just does it for me, plus Ive been playing one for so long that when I pick another guitar up it just doesnt move me.

Ive got two of them, they feel totally different, but i just love the tone of em.

For a bass player, you might want to find an older Jackson Rhoads, or Soloist.
The necks are wider than other guitars, more like a classical guitars fret board.
More space between the strings.
If you find a U.S.A. model, the build is fairly hefty.

They higher level Dean guitars (the most expensive ones) are supposed to have a real hefty, put together feel to them.

For years, I've looked for an electric guitar that I am comfortable with, with no luck. Granted, I haven't spent a lot of cash on one-I am a bass player first and foremost, but I do some guitar work as well.

Seven years ago, I bought a cheap acoustic guitar, and it practically never leaves my side-even in instances that I'm playing bass, I take it along.

For some reason, however, I just can't find that ONE electric guitar that feels right. I've tried some oddballs, too.

Peavy Milano
Oscar Schmitt Electric
Fender Squire
Danelectro (my current doorstop)
...there have been others, but none worth mentioning.

They always feel weak in my hands, flimsy. I've tried heavy gauge strings, etc.

What's your main axe and why?

well you didn't say what you are going to do with it.
why do you want one?
I've noticed that most guitar players usually pick an axe because of a player they admire or a sound they want to achieve.

then they evolve from there.
on the flip side if I had to choose a bass for my self I would really have to fight the urge to pick one that feels close to a regular guitar as opposed to the sound I really have in mind.

Over the years I have gathered up a handful of iconic guitar models including some true vintage treasures: 55 Gibson Les Paul Jr, 67 Gibson SG Special, 79 ES335 (nice Japanese "lawsuit" knockoff). My most playable guitar- 2000 Fender USA Strat. It sounds good, feels good, and stays in tune very well. The guitar with my favorite tone- 2003 Fender USA Tele. I don't know what it is about that guitar but it just sings with the most distinctive voice.

From a old beater no one played for 20 years to this.
The guitar cost me $ 380 .... and another $ 1500 for his labor and the parts.
I play hard rock and Jerry Garcia stuff - it does great on both
The Dimarzio Super 2's are made for high gain rock but played clean through a Twin they are crystal clear for the Jerry stuff
It has a FX loop - when the pedal board is bypassed I am straight to the amp. No signal loss.
Has a ' buffer ' to help the signal make it thru the pedals un-molested when the 'board is in the loop.
The Frankenwolf's tone is sweet - neck thru and a 3 ply body ....
2 octave neck is sweet you can get up thereeeeeeee.
Love this bad boy

Honestly Ive played a couple of EPI Les Pauls that play and sound as good as the real deal, Ive never owned one.

I do have an Epi Sheraton, a few years back I was wanting a Gibson 335 and just happened to pick the Sheraton up and got it for a grand less than the 335. I havent played it in a while I actually set it up for slide, with real high action. But its a really smooth playing guitar and the pickups arent as harsh as the pickups in my LPs.

Strats to a degree of compulsive obsessive insanity. Strats out number my Les Pauls, my SG's, my F hole Arch top guitars, and (now) single Telecaster.
I guess I got hooked on the body style as much as the sound. But now I custom wire them for the sounds that I love. Every one sounds different. Obsessive compulsive isn't all bad. Only people with out it think it's bad. :) :)
