I met my old drummer Mark last night at the Double OO for open mic last night. I haven't jammed with him since I had to can him (long story) but we remain friends. The bass player was a big black dude playing a five string who wanted to start with some blues so we did "Red House". I then launched into "TV Eye" which we killed. Next the bass player wanted to do "I Wanna Take You Higher" by Sly and the Family Stone; I had never played that one before but it was a jam. Finally I played "Crossroads" and tore that mutha up. Mark had to leave, and after a few other acts the host brought me back up for an all-star jam; we did "Communication Breakdown", "Superstition", "Use Me Up" by Bill Withers and lastly "Going Down" by Jeff Beck. What a night, the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Definitely John! "Higher" is a great tune to improv and jam to. Someday we'll have to hook up a jam.

I didn't know you could be too drunk to fish.

Glad that happened to you. Sounds like a ton of fun. Great songs to play on. I always get in trouble for not playing bass right on 'going down.' :D

Adding to the Oddly Enoughs, I was just watching some Sly vids the other night and thinking 'damn!' Old Sly was in a class of his own. The sixties had that characteristic: each band had it's own sound.

Sly was awesome when he showed up. I saw him - well his band - back in the 70's. Sly didn't make it.
