Ivan and I just joined a band here in Memphis the other day.
Lucky to get to play with some beautiful talented young women.

It's an acoustic quartet, and I'll be back on drums after 30 years lol
Had to buy my first set of brushes and some Hotrods.


Are you proficient on another instrument?

I'm not proficient in the instrument I play.
And seriously have no interest in another instrument.
Don't get me wrong. I think being able to play multiple instruments would be and is really cool.
But I've got so many irons in my fire now I can't see the glow for the handles.

Bass is my primary instrument, but I also play guitar and keys. Guitar wise, I am a fair rythym guitarist and can play a decent lead-if I get to work it out beforehand. I am terrible with improvisation, regardless of the instrument. I've learned recently that I am actually much better at the keyboard than I thought. I could probably fill in any of those three positions fairly well in a band. In my current band, I am the bass player, although we intend to do some switching off a bit in one set, and a brief acoustic set in another-meaning I will be playing guitar. The craziest part of this is that I do a lot of vocal work, and I really struggle to play bass and sing...it's something I'm having to practice heavily. In terms of songwriting, I usually write from the acoustic, and I can strum and sing all day long. The bass parts are concieved later, and I tend to approach them more as a musician than a songwriter. In other words, my bass parts aren't the easiest things to play, nevermind treating them as second nature so that I can sing.
This may seem like I've gone off topic, but the point is that yes, I believe you can change your spots...I do it quite frequently.

I played saxophone for about seven years, then I picked up piano so I could learn the theory better. Also, it's easier to play a gig by yourself if you play piano and sing, and the money's better. I'm way better at sax, but I'm more marketable on piano.

Bass, guitar, vocals, trumpet, french horn, minor league keys, minor league percussion, violin (but only at gunpoint), theremin.

I probably forgot a few but I don't play them enough to care one way or another.

For me it's making music, the instruments don't like me.

Violins are just too small.............. to look good when you smash em up.

I luv show business my main instruments are guitar, drums, piano, but I can play lots of other strange instruments in other people weird dreams. lol

When people dream about you playing strange instruments ............you have some strange friends.

proficiency ... I play with a few that are muilt instrumentalist and are proficient with each instrument ... a few. Most are not and it shows in their playing
