I would bet money Lynard plays the Old Folks Homes rather than church, cause he knows when he mouths off to an old codger that the old codger won't have the energy to chase him down when Lynard's running to hide..

I have to say George, I love the new name! Having a wireless system is LIBERATING isn't it? Just try and keep in mind the use of it should be SPARINGLY! I know it is cool to see what your band sounds like from out front. It can be weird from the audience perspective if you stay out there to long. My advise to you is to do it during sound check and as an acknowledgement 1 or 2 times during the performance and keep a good spread between those times.

Good advice. Thanks I'll try not to overdo it. I love moving about as I play though and the boys want to "script" some of it to highlight certain songs.
I'll relay the advice to them as well.

George one other thing about wireless systems! I have been on both sides of THIS COIN is that your bandmates can take offense to you staying out there to long! I know I know it is crazy as your intentions are good and you just want to make sure the mix is good! Unfortunately there are politics involved.

The boys want me out there Jeff. Greater stage presence is one of our goals.
Eric ( our bassist ) also is wireless and at one point in the show met me down on the floor for a little "one on one".
The less energetic tunes find me onstage standing beside our drummer Steve.

As we tore down our gear I asked the boys if they felt I was on the floor too much. To the man they said the show went really well.

Since our meeting and reformation our communications have been really blunt and honest. If there is an issue I feel confident that the boys will bring it to the fore before it becomes a wedge.

Scott I dont give a f**k his bad day.... Its NOT okay to sh*t on people just cause one has a bad day... I think you would agree.. there was no necessity in half the crap that was spewed out.

Bad day? Its especially NOT okay to sh*t on people or leave a f*ckin dagger in em... after leading them down a garden path of amicability...

I'm just sayin...

I really have no time for fair-weather fans....So he can take his bad day and shove it up his hipocritical , back stabbing ass.

I'm sorry sir, I think you are the heart and soul
of the bandmix forum, but I beg to differ. The doors
are locked at most churches I've played in, and security
works the doors and the soundboard, and usually controls
all the video feed. Mr Yod could probably attest to this, I've
played in many churches and have grown sick with there
security and fancy locking doors. And not paying the musician's?
What if the church is running so many thru that they have
3 services Saturday night, and 4 Sunday mornig early afternoon?
The church is raking it in, and I'm on que to take my position
2 minutes before each service. I've seen the locked doors and
the security, it is a sad state our churches are in, and I no longer
or support. Believe me you don't play anything they don't want
you to, they'll take you out right there at the board.

Best Regards

George just a comment on your wireless, before you guys do a show you might want to wander the room and make sure there arent any areas where your signal drops out, trust me, Ive many times started one of my outrageous solos, only to lose the signal and then have to scramble around to regain it.

Haley good advice, I guess I need to stop going to the bathroom in the middle of songs and playing in there I guess it is distracting to the audience.

Haley another thing on wireless, have you ever been walking around a room and someone comes up and just starts a conversation with you, while you are trying to nail some crazy part in a song? We did this think in a school gymnasium, so I decided to go up in the bleachers, Im trying to play, stand up and this old friend says Hey John, How have you been? Im like good, and you? Doing real good and starts telling me about his mom and kids and cars, it seemed like it went on forever, finally I say I better get back to what Im doing, good seeing you, and thanks for coming out!

Jw too funny man. I am surprised the guy did not break out the family photos. That usually comes next in those sort of conversations. :D

Sans it has been a while since I have heard anything about you folks doing stuff. Glad to hear the activity. I cant wait until Scott and I get our chance to be doing some of the same. Keep on rocking man. :)

I have never experienced this and my mouth would probably get me in dutch if I did.
I run our board, I have had to tell more than one "sound man" this fact. I can put our stuff back in the trailer just as easy as I took it out.
We choose our songs, no one chooses them for us. If we feel they don't convey the message and the intensity we want, we don't play them ... period.
We are not a "church band" nor a "Praise Team" .
Though we have twice been offered such a position we refused because no one will tell us what to or not to play.
We strive to be as accommodating as possible to the venues, and Ray does a awesome job of mixing the play list to fit the moods or the inspiration of an event.

I know this sounds arrogant but I believe our intent is just.
Too much of what is "taught" in the Church is not the Gospel nor the Law.
And that is not what we have been called to do.

Okay...I'm seriously NOT a church-goer...however, I have been to MANY churches throughout my lifetime...My father is Catholic and my mother Presbyterian. I've attended the Methodist Church and the Baptist church each on numerous ocassions. I've been to a Pentecostal Church. I've even attended church ceremonies in family living rooms. In all these experiences, I have NEVER seen one door locked. Never. Am I missing something? Perhaps Lynard's locked "church" has padded walls? I'm serious, guys, if I am missing something, like say, oh I don't know, this dude's a recent drop out from the Straight Jacket University, could one of you clue me in? I love harrassing him, but if we are talking about someone who is seriously sick, then I would just feel plain out bad. I'm a little slow about these things sometimes...

I have no doubt that he has experienced such paranoia in a church.

I have not ... but then how many guitar players pack a Glock with them everywhere they go ?
