Dane, please don't let my vitriol against Lynard, or his vitriol against me and others discourage you from joining the forum.. Usually, its really not this bad... And please know, that there a lot of of good folk here (which far outweigh the bad)

Welcome to the Forum...Be strong and lay out your good stuff :)
I will check in time to time, and see if he's calmed down, and if it is peaceful I might chime in.. but nothing breaks the spirit of the muse and creativity in general, than discord in a human's emotional state, it reflects and effects everybody in touch with it..

Dane Ellis Allen wrote:thanks joseph, I tried to upload a tune the other night but due to bad dial-up service I presume, it times out before the 3.5 megabyte file is done.. "Joyful Noise" was entered into a song competition in Aug. 2006 on Ourstage and out of 350+ entries I placed 37th ..ourstage members would vote on tunes with 1 on 1 song competitions and the winner would place so many steps higher in the competition, in other words, it was the entire voting crowd that decided the best in the competition and not a handful of judges like some of those TV shows do it.. Ourstage has changed so much I will not be a part of it anymore..it is cheapened down and they did away with so many features..

Hey that's pretty good, Dane.. !!!

That tune has merit..

Duane,

Lynard isn't necessarily a bad guy. None of the musicians on this forum are that I know. We all get on each others tits once in a while and blow off steam, but in a few days were all back to being sociable to one another again.

(Except for Capt, Jimmy, Slacker, Dog, neanderpaul, Jahva, jw123, joseph6, Sans, Klug, Haley and a few others that post here on a daily basis. Those guys are all *(*^%$$ :) :) :))

There once was a fatboy from El Paso
Who ran every time there was a hassle.
He sat with the girls, and played with his curls.

Lynard what the hell is wrong with you? Are you going to fight the whole world? No wonder you are alone. No one cares about your abs, your horrible singing and barely passable guitar playing. You call yourself a songwriter? You are a joke. People have tried to be nice to you and you've done nothing in return. Remember this in life: if you want a friend, you have to be a friend. Now get your skinny-ass out of this forum, you're no longer welcome.

Bwahahahahah Jimmy the jokes in your pants, I'm
mean and violent, but not skinny or a drunk. Perhaps
a throwback to a time when men backed up what they
said. Not a bunch of philisophical fatboys. Jumped in
now Jimmy cause you think I'm down and out, your
wrong again. I can be mad at the world, which of you is
man enough to stand up to me, maybe it's you Dane?

I'll stand up to you. But not in the way you expect. Here is how I will do it.

Lynard! Dude! What happened ? Are you okay? It's like you want to fight with everybody. I hate to see you like this. It's really sad. Being negative is poisonous to you. Not just for your spirit and your emotions, but also physically. Please get a hold of yourself. For your own good. Come on back to the light side! :D

Lynard, there is always going to be people better and worse than you.

Do not let it interfere with what YOU do.

I felt like shedding a tear when the 7 year old kid smoked me in a guitar store. I am not going to let it bother me though, there is always someone better and at the same time worse than you.

Don't bother to compare apples and oranges, just realize we are all fruit !!!
Some one color, some another, some sweet, some sour but we all just are.

My family is a bit on the "raise yourself, loser" method of parenting.
Not that you need it, but I found a lot of inner piece when I discovered this thing "Desiderata". It gave me an idea of what to think about the world in general when no one bothered to let me in on the secret.

desiderata - by max ehrmann

"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

Max Ehrmann c.1920

PS: it's actually older than this. Some say it was written in the 16th century, I don't know and I don't care. It works pretty well and after I read this, I knew how better to handle the world. I just wish I had seen it when I was 18. I could have saved myself a lot of pain and anguish.

Point is this isn't your beginning nor your end. You aren't just starting and you aren't finished. Just relax a little and get on with that which you need to do, I am sure down deep you already have an inkling of what you want to accomplish.

Many times it has been said that a musician needs a thick skin to survive the population. I can tell you this is true, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Do what you do, Lynard. Don't lose sight of what it is you want and don't lose composure, it settles nothing and only hurts you in the end.

(sh*t did I say that>?)(you people are changing me with all your principled behavior)

If you need an example of bad behavior(s), you can look up most of my postings and see that it really doesn't accomplish much to be this angry or upset.

I'd counsel you to quit it before you have to apologize to everyone you know. I've been there and trying to avoid going back again, although on some days I don't know if I will inadvertently screw up and end up right on the cusp of this very thing I am trying to avoid.

-S.
