Any tips from anyone on how to get this thing on the road?

I'll join you. :) Of course, that's contingent upon you coming all the way to Georgia, or working with me online somehow.

[quote="pwdrkg"]I have been playing for 29 years, through several different bands. I am not a vocalist, but either way, you have to pay your dues. That could mean attending Vocal Conservatory, or just get out there and start singing, if you are good enough the musicians will beat a path to your door!

i am looking for a band for gig, can you email me? elomaster@hotmail.com

Most newbies will take you for all the advice you can give them, then blow you off.

I'm soaking it all in, too. There's no point in letting valuable tips go to waste. 8)

don't drink coffee of a evening.

Networking is the key ... get off your a## & your computer and do something.
Even if it's wrong.

Bands start where the leather meets the sidewalk.

If all we had to do was network, Bandmix would not be needed! Getting in a good band can be so hard. I do not mean great players, but players that can work as a team and be committed to play out. In 4 1/2 years, the band(s) I have been in never really got out of the basement. There was ALWAYS an issue. We had endless starts and stops. Great band members are hard to find. Networking is so hit and miss. Bandmix tries to make it less painful and time wasting. I am still looking for that group of players that can get along, be committed, and play out.

No one said it would be easy.
After practice last Thursday a couple of the guys started talking about other guitarists they had tried before me.
This is a Beatles tribute band (known by all the new guys) and one said something like 'you seem to be too much of a vocal-oriented band for me' - DUHH! It's the Beatles, dude (BTW, we get the instruments correct, too!) Another one said it was taking too much commitment from him - 1 practice a week, plus do your homework is too much?

Never did I ever think that in almost 5 years in looking for a "committed" bunch of guys that I would be back to square one. I am going to give it six more months - after that, sell my gear and go home. This "fun" hobby has become a nightmare.
