I bought the Boss RC-30 looping station.
2 pedals on it, $300.
Wow . . .
There's a learning curb with it, that's for sure.
I went through the manual, and after hooking it up I was soon doing multi track loops.
I tried just my guitar, so far. This unit one also has a mike input; which I'll try tomorrow.
Within 45 minutes I had 3 multi-track guitar-only songs I was able to loop, with about 3 tracks seeming to be optimun for my songs.
Then I play a lead along with the loops.
WOW.
I feel this will double my repertoire of solo performable songs.
This unit is GREAT!

Got to love new toys!
Looping looks like it would be a blast to create with. Watching all of those video clips made me want to get one. :)

I tried the vocals on it.
Wowowow . . .
I've always wanted to hear those harmonies in my songs, and NOW I can sing them.
:)
However, several songs would have to be re-engineered, if I want to sing each verse.
That is; the harmonies would all have to be sung as "ooo."
.
There is an option, which I'm not ready to yet try, of alternating to a completely separate 2nd loop, which should cover me for chorus's.
I'd need that if a song's order changes.
For instance; if a song's order is:
(V = verse Ch= ch Br =Br)
V
C
V
C
V
C
V
Then I just record a verse - chorus loop. No problem.
BUT if the order is:
V
V
C
V
BR
V
C
C
Then I have to consider using the 2nd loop.
A loop does NOT need to be used during the entire song, you can stop it, play a bridge, and then re-start it.
But it could sound funny in the middle of a song, to suddenly drop out all the overdubs.
Also, I can pre-record loops for later playback or download/up to/from computer.
I have 2 songs which are complete already, and ready for performance.
Most of my other songs will take hours of judicious practice.
If I forget to hit the pedal because I'm thryng to think of 3 other things, it screws up everything! Ai-yi-yii . . .
It'll take some practice to make it 2nd nature.

I've performed twice with the looper, now (100% vocals) and I love it!
.
Tonight I was at a performing arts organization in Middletown, and performed 2 songs. I did about 10 -11 overdubs per song - 100% vocals, from scratch.
Lotta pressure - make one mistake, and it'll repeat for the entire song . . .
.
Lots of harmonies, some synchopation, and quite a bit of call-and-response.
I've got 3 songs, so far . . .
If I can get a video camera to use, I'll record & post one of them.
