Work or don't eat ... that is the reality of life on this Earth.

It is a relatively new and absolutely preposterous proposition that children should not have to work.

I've worked my whole life. Either in the home or outside the home.
My friends all worked ... some of my friends grew up on a dairy farm.
They rose at 03:00 rounded up and milked the cows before breakfast and going to school and then again when they got in from school.

Work or don't eat ... that is the reality of life on this Earth.

here, here sans.

It can be argued that children are better rounded and responsible
adults having worked when young. Just look at the young people
now that are given everything by their Boomer parents and turn
out as bad mannered, irresponsible, foul mouthed, ethic void,
stuck-up, little schyts.[/b]

Work or don't eat ... that is the reality.
Most of America ... most of the "developed" world don't live in reality rather in a sterile bubble that will burst.

Work or don't eat ... it's that simple, really.

Yep. No reason to be cynical about it. Sure, it's a long time coming, but it's happening now. If they take it as far as they should, it won't just affect child labor, it'll affect the underpaid workers in dangerous conditions.

I quote the article

The Fair Labor Association today announced that Apple will join the FLA as a Participating Company, effective immediately.

I repeat....
looks like damage control to me.

well maybe if you smoke alot of pot you can tweet on your slave assembled ipod at the occupy movement.
you can tweet through Facebook, who cleaned up with a 24 billion dollar IPO on wall street... last month.
lol!

yep it's a funny world full of funny people.

if you want to compare the family farm to a sweat shop I suppose that's your affair.

I wouldn't
next you will be telling me that Chinese organ harvesting is the same as the Union stock yards in Chicago

Sans is right. There is going to be 2 billion people in both India and China in the near future. How do you think they are going to feed that many people? Work doesn't set you free, it puts food on your plate. Homo sapiens [/i]didn't migrate around the globe by magic. We got there by finding food everywhere we went, and a lot of time it took work to get that food. I'm not condoning child or slave labor, but in some cases people have to EAT. It's a matter of survival.

A teenager's job can teach work skills that will serve him well in college and prepare him for careers in adulthood.
He can acquire confidence, develop a sense of responsibility and feel more independent.
Studies find that students who work a moderate amount—no more than 10 to 15 hours a week during the school year—tend to earn higher grades than those who don't work at all.
Earning money will enable him to buy things he wants and will provide an opportunity for learning responsible money management.
If you and your spouse work outside the home, an after-school job can give him adult supervision in those crucial afternoon hours.
The right job—or jobs—may expose him to new work possibilities and set him on the path to a lifetime career.

As much as I agree with newt's campaign plat form, i certainly don't equivocate a good work ethic with slavery. I do not believe that this is what he is advocating.
being the beneficiaries of slave labor might color your judgment but not mine.

I certainly support your right to install yourself or your children into the chairman mao's command economy.

mostly this is a lot of BS, because an opinionated lot like you guys wouldn't be so ardent if you were working for $2 week.
