There are 256+ cover bands right now in a 75 mile radius of Miami. Have you gotten out of the house and hung around any of them?

yes I have gotten out but no seems to want me I get pissed and tell them they sren't worth my time which I shouldn't do but hey they get mad at me because I ask and ask because I want to join so bad but all they wanna do is covers, covers are okay but I want people to exlpore themselves and write songs of their but if you want to be in a band just to do covers all the time im out sorry I want to known not be well here they are doing the song they did last time they were and such I want people to understand what music is not what you want it be so thats my answer.

To the extent that I understand what you said, which is not very well, it would seem to me that cover bands, by definition, play the same songs LESS of the time as they have more to choose from.

No what im saying is every band that I have every tried out for always told me they just going to play certain songs from like two or three bands not every other band thats what I want people dedicated to playing every type of music out there not just litte bit of this and that I want people to at least like a variety of music but hey I can't people now can I so you what im just going to let you all tell me what to do for the rest of my life and never have my opnion be heard and just take some needles and sew my mouth shut.

First thing is that no one wants to change just for someone who wants to join their band. The second is that if you were really serious you would join a cover band so other musicians could see what you have to offer. Once you have established yourself as a good musician other musicians may want to start a band with you. You are the one who needs to be flexible and try to fit in, not the guys who are happy doing that they are doing.

If you are any good, as soon as you prove your worth others will notice you. :)

Going to see bands can be very helpful but it sounds like your attitude could be hurting you.

Sit in once in a while. Buy 'em a drink. Ask them who they know that's looking to put something together. Bands aren't going to change for you so you should start you own. Be respectful towards the other players and they will help you.

Also - frequent every music store in town. Be humble - you'll be talking to guys who have already done a lot - who are usually willing to help but have already had their fill of big egos.

Read the archives here: you are a long way from being the first guy to complain that 'nobody wants to do anything cool - I'm in a cultural desert.'
Well - Snellville GA ain't excactly a cultural mecca and i'm doing ok.

If you are really serious about making it a career - then get yourself to LA, NY, Vegas or Nashville. (depending upon style) Have material ready and be ready to get creamed and be able to take it. You'll get your ass kicked regularly before some thing breaks. You'll find the quality of the players and music, even the pop nonsense, is extremely high. Be ready for that.

Note that all my advice is based upon personal experience and I did this in both Atlanta and Hollywood.

Good luck
Talbot

it might have something to do with you living in Miami, Oklahoma
I'm sure everyone there is a permanent state of confusion

You have no music up on your bandmix page,
so it's hard to tell what level of a player you are.

I know of 2 open mic nights held weekly in Joplin
which isn't 30 miles from you. You have the casinos
all around you where you can hear some top notch
cover bands, usually for free. The music business is
what you make of it, keep practicing a high talent level
on your instrument, puts you ahead of the next guy.
I've played all over the 4 states area, there is a wealth
of talent here, you have Branson to the east, the casinos
to the west, Eureka Springs to the south, the lakes to the
north all within a 100 miles of you. Then you've also got
Tulsa to the west of you, the music scene is thriving there
also. It's like finding a job I guess, you've got to get out
there and pound the pavement.
Thru failure comes success.

Keep practicing

Though I have never been to Oklahoma,
I have been to Miami Fla
I would readily concede that the Oklahoma version is probably a better one.

I love hot weather, so my vote has to go
with at least some place south of Miami FLA
