Last year it was 9mm auto. This year it will be 357 revolver. 10 inch barrel.

I am focusing on making my Pistol/Rifle Range a reality. I was shooting for this spring, but there has been things moving forward in my favor to be a charging range by February.

One of my dear friends is the best pistol shooter in the world, Ralf Shumann. He has won the Gold medal in the Olypics every time since 1990s, getting only the Brass in the last one.

I was trying to find a shooting range for him to practise in a warm climate for the next Olympics (London in summer) but American ranges, for some really strange reason, are apparently not designed for Olympic rules?

Maybe you should be the first?

We have a great NRA Member range within a few miles of my house.
Rifle pistol shotgun blackpowder. Lots of competitions though most not " officially " sanctioned.
I love to shoot the steel match
And occasionally take my Pennsylvania flintlock rifle to the black powder shoots.
I got a new double .410 caliber shotgun.
A nice little side by side made in Turkey with interchangeable chokes.
Inexpensive as doubles go but very slim and beautiful.
Can't wait to put her on some squirrels or rabbit.

I will look into rules & regs. Olympic shooters is high on the list. It is also possible to Ski and shoot here, as I have also seen that in the Olympics.

I once had a choice... I had enough money to buy a nice .357 ... or ...buy a nice guitar... Being that I am a real and true warrior... I opted for the guitar...

It is my weapon of choice... a weapon of love, merriment and joy... In the right hands, it can be used to conquer the world... And for all the power that it packs, it weighs lighter than a pair of steel-toed leather marching boots...

When strapped behind my shoulder, it rests on my back like a quiver of Arrows. When it is deployed in action, it is as noble as the finest of swords...

It does not draw blood,...rather, It will draft tears from unsuspecting listeners... It will invoke deep thought from the intellectuals, and it will coerce the tactile-minded to dance and tap their feet... It commands submission by the aesthetic minded...

Its wielder is compelled to seek truth , so as to allow the weapon to express the compelling truth.

What can I say, my guitar is more glorious than any hand gun or rifle out there...

And believe me friends... I thought long and hard about this decision... (I could not serve both callings...)

God has rewarded me accordingly...As will be evident when I release my CD of songs...

I never had the luxury of choice. I decided to get out on my own at 18. Signing in the Marines was a good way to do that. My father gave me some simple instruction on how to shoot a rifle when I was 8 with a world class target rifle. It carried over, and provided a living for me for 4 years. It is also what separates me from the pack. We all have our own gifts and talents. Had I gotten guitar lessons at 8 like my brother, there may have been a different story on this page. Who knows what your story might have been if you elected the .357. I play guitar because I love to. I don't see myself getting as skilled with the guitar as with sharpshooting. I have also gotten to the point that I feel I'm wasting BM members time with my interests going into another focus. I am letting my BM subscription expire and I will find a web site more in tune with my authoritive talents. I have learned much here and I thank the musicians here for your patience with me.

Crunchy, My post wasn't about comparative 'skills', between a gun or a guitar... It was about choice and foreseeing the true value of that choice. If I had no music at all in my soul, my alternative passion for the covert, would have led me into a career as an assassin. (And believe me, I would learn to sniper better than anybody else out there...)

My decision to opt for the guitar, was not solely based on my exposure to music as a child, nor skills (or lack thereof) as a shooter in my youth...

My decision to opt for the guitar was based solely on the voice inside me, that translates the will of my God (whom I believe to be the ultimate author and copyright owner of all love and life). To me, Music is a dynamic signal of Life , expressed as part of God's imperatives, given to us, to help us understand the magic and beauty within life and love. Guns simply cannot (and by design, wont) do that. I have always felt that I have been blessed with, at least, a minuscule understanding of musical expression...Therefore wielding my guitar (over that of wielding a gun) was the obvious choice for me.

This is not to criticize the desire to have a gun (I have desired such weapons, myself)
This is to illustrate that I simply listened to a more honest voice inside me...to arrive upon my current position about music and guns.

What sparked this? It came about when I once watched a video of 6 Marines take a healthy goat and beat it to death with a crowbar, just for the amusement. The goat suffered brutally, it went into siezures, tried to get up and walk away and they would not let up... They laughed throughout the incident. I'm a grown man.., and that made me weep.

That all musicians go out and perform great shows that are entertaining and money makin'.

All non musicians go out and support the musicians and have nothing but a great fun time.

What I was saying about choice is that some are blessed with choices. Choice of vice. Choice of endearment. Choice to have those things and/or people that may lead them down roads less controversial. When I play guitar and I get my groove on where I can play a new tune as I go or a cover tune like no one has ever heard it, That's fun! The sounds are a whole lot more positive note than the sound of a pistol. When no one is here to here it, might has well be silent. Really good shooters have been here to witness shots I've made with rifles and pistols their owners could not tell were accurate, until I fire them. Part of my gig is that I will have you shoot as many rounds at a target well past you current level until you're ready for instruction. Your first shot thereafter will be exactly where you put it.A target the size of a quarter from 200 yards with a scoped .22LR, or a beer can with a pistol from 175 yards in the grass. It does something inside those I instruct when They improve to a level they want to show others they can now do this.Shooting a target with old skills is exciting. The apprehension that I May be able to show them how to hit the target, then do so, most want to go home shortly after their instruction to show their gun buddy what they can now do. I have developed a way that I am not going to give away to make exerts in moments. No one leaves without a big smile. Do I do that with a guitar? Only when they come here to play guitar. They don't. They do come here to shoot. Last night at midnight, I was making shots with my 9mm another avid shooter couldn't make with a nice shotgun with a scope. Hard to believe? you listen to your voices, I'll listen to mine.
