Stop wars... ?

Exactly ... fools ... you cannot stop wars.
Why not expend some of that energy somewhere outside never never land.

Folk Music, by definition is NOT dead.

Go to my site or our band web page. It's all folk music.
As is what is on most of all of your sites.

Just because we are not playing worn a out Dobro or blowing on a moonshine jug does not make it any less folk music.

I play the music of " my people " in the style they understand and sing about things that matter to " us "

Is that not folk music ??

As to the origination post.

No I did not see the show.

lalong - you said, "Mamas and The Papas, their harmony was just amazing. California Dreaming, Monday Monday Dancing in the Streets.."
.
Yeah, man those are great songs - I loved 'em myself. Great harmonies and feeling . . .
.
I don't do many songs even similar to them, nowadays, but those are some of the few songs which - if they came on the radio/TV - I would not change the channel.
And - coming from me - that's a high compliment.
What with the incessant commercials and mostly uninspired music usually being broadcast, try as I might; I cannot listen to the radio anymore.
And I do try to listen . . .
But I often go through the dial 4 - 5 times before I find a station that (A) is not on commercial break, and (B) is playing a creative song that hasn't been played to death already.
It's so frustrating that I turn it off after a few minutes; I'd rather listen to water dripping from a faucet . . .
:)

THAT'S GOLD..

There is a tune in there.. "I'd rather listen to the water dripping from the faucet". I don't know if it's the line or the sound of the water droplets, but there is definitely a tune in there..

I think the original term "Folk Music" once alluded to music of the 'lower classes', as opposed to Classical (Or even "World" music), which was deemed music of the wealthy, Elite or upper classes... (Which also corresponds to endowments for such classical projects by the wealthy) . Folk Music is also branded as true 'American" music". It is the basis, from which more contemporary songs evolved. SO basically, you are correct...
