i was hoping to impress my date (in '70 something) and took her to an Edgar Winter concert.

I couldn't find two seats together - then i spied Harry the Hippy - nearly passed out and drooling next to an empty seat.

To my eternal shame i cold cocked him and took the seat. Did i mention that this utterly failed to impress the young lady?

I'm still just as mean but my wife said something recently that brought me down to earth about just how tough I am these days: Was watching a middle weight fight and this young Mexican kid was really shining. i told my wife, "Damn, I doubt i could take that guy!"

She replied, "Michael- you'd be lucky to take the referee!"

Sigh...

j, your topic post makes me think of one concert I went to. Outdoor, lawn seats. Standers in front. I lived with that. Two girls got right behind us. They were enjoying the music, and of course, screaming. One was so loud we couldn't hear the music, I knew they couldn't have. Shrill, my ears wanted to close like a camel's nostrils in a dust storm. I may have looked back at them, posibly made a gesture. No matter. The 160 db noise was persistent. I felt like taking a sock off and making good use of it. I was passive. Looking back, I'm not sure my method was better than yours, but I did get to see the rest of the concert and I didn't go to jail for assault.

The man. The man- from U.N.C.L.E. Personally, I'd rather hear Peter Gunn.
