I often refer to Aerosmith's early work because of that exact quality.
It is after all the essence of rock in my opinion.
I also refer to Aerosmith's work because you can see the shift from rock band to pop entertainment.
I absolutely detest all that regurgitated little girl in love sh*t so many band shift to after they have it " made ".
They seen to lose the edge hunger gives to predators.

That's not rock n roll ... it's the Wal-Mart sales bin.

You have also said something that touches on one of my other thoughts,Sans, I like say Joan Jett, but it doesn't express my feelings. I don't care that he's standin' at the record machine. Van Halen standin' at the record machine gives his view point of looking at a beautiful girl. In which I can empathize. I am only saying this because women want to know why they don't get the popular vote, $$$$

I hear you Sans we do Mama Kin, and the sound
Aerosmith gets on that song, sounds like it's recorded
in Steven's garage. Has anybody ever before or since
screamed the words out like Tyler does on Draw the Line,
I don't think so. Truly one of the greatest bands of all time,
I imagine it's easy with a singer that talented.

Lynard listen to Aerosmith "Nobodys Fault", I think its on Rocks, but that is the heaviest song, musically and vocally that I have ever heard.

The thing about Aerosmith, particulary thier first ten yrs or so is that there music has this swing feel to it, and a lot of the time if you dissect the guitar parts they could easily be played by horns.

One of my favorites is the album version of Train Kept A Rollin.

I always like that song Uncle Salty, along with Big Ten Inch! LOL

JW I've sure listened to Rocks, and Nobodys Fault,
When Rocks was released it was a Selection of the
Month in the Columbia House Record Club, and the
record club sent me and several of my friends the
album. We sat and listened to it over and over
it was the heaviest album we'd ever heard.
I think Last Child is a kinda rockin tune there's
not a bad song on the album, I think Get Your Wings
is my favorite album, the Yardbirds coulda took
lessons from the way Aerosmith played Train Kept a Rollin

Rocks is an album I had to have. At 16, I had a coupla' buddies go with, to get.I bought, then bought Wendy's for all, for going. I forgot to pick up the album after we ate. I had to buy again. It was worth it. I had my favorite songs on that album. Last Child was the kicker. Out of all the sound on that album, I think it was the back up vocals on that song. Is that crude. Listen to it one more time and figure that mix. Hope you'll get it. don't know his name, but he shoulda' done more- or some fronting. In the later years, Steven tyler went all Mrs. Roper on us. :? Don't get me as saying S.T. was not a good singer, he sure had the chops for the snacks. His desire of snacks of a different kind was that sounds demise.

I don't get drunk. I don't use my musical ability to get laid. I play because I am a musician, and playing music is what musicians do. I paid my dues playing every night for years in clubs.

In case it escaped you, musicians play music because it is in their blood. And that is the only motive they need. So what makes your motive for playing music so lofty that you can slam other musicians as good or better than you are because of what they have chosen to do with their music? I see that you're not signed with anyone. Get in your way? You're self importance is greatly exaggerated. I doubt very much if anyone here has "gotten in your way"

As far as the musicians on this forum: I've heard some pretty good covers, as well as some originals from some musicians on here. Don't knock them just because it isn't your bag. It just makes you appear to be full of yourself. Bitterness never gets anyone anywhere.

Personally, I enjoy playing cover songs as well as writing and playing originals. Easy to learn cover songs? Try playing one of my renditions of a cover song and then tell me how easy it was to learn.

So if you managed to get a hit, would you still slam the musicians on here or elsewhere that wanted to play it? Just curious.

Good luck. With an attitude like you appear to have, you'll need it. Please let us posers that you have left behind know when you make it big, just in case we miss it. :)

First off, I never slammed anybody for playing covers! I don't think that I am of a higher plain than cover musicians, just in a different place! I was speaking specifically about the local musicians in my area... and since your not in my area, your talking outa your ass slamming me for "my opinion" on them. So go fuk yourself asswipe!

To the rest of you, Thanks for your support!

Yep, those two tore it up. They also did the epic guitar work on Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane" and most of the Alice Cooper rock anthems.

Producer Bob Ezrin brought those guys in. The story goes that Wagner was just warming up, jamming to the song and said "Ok I'm ready". Ezrin said "No, we're done, I already recorded it". Wagner still insists he could have done his solo better but I don't see how, it smokes! BTW Wagner does the first solo and Hunter does the second one during the "live" part.
