Audiences, Engineers, Producers and Musicians vs. Voice teachers/Coaches
I have been in the music industry for a long time. So, I couldn’t help but notice over the years, that what audiences, engineers, producers and musicians want, seems to be quite different than what most voice teachers/coaches want. What’s a singer/rapper to do? Are they supposed to choose voice teachers/coaches over their fans and the people they work with? Instinctively they know, that would destroy their artistry and fan base. It’s true that singing styles are harder on the chords and more fatiguing than the early 1900s. But, the feel of today’s singing/rapping styles demand it. So, demonstrating and teaching styles that only work for Opera, Choir or Musical Theater, doesn’t help us. Why haven’t the above caught up with the times? Maybe they think they are superior? I don’t know. Some have changed a little bit, but the above, need to catch up with the 21st century and help singers, rather than teach them out dated styles and techniques. More gospel preachers have helped modern singers than the above have. No matter how good the singers/rappers technique may be, if we as listeners don’t feel the emotion, we probably won’t listen again. In the recording studios, I have seen many a producer/engineer frustrated by a voice teacher being in the studio, and turning it into a rehearsal, by making vocal technique suggestions, when the goal is feel.

I'm not reading all that...I just checked out books from the Library. It has to be a condensed message.
