I was pretty harsh on these guys when I first jammed with them back in June. I didn't have any thing in the works. Putting my flocked up ego aside and just playing to have some fun, these guys are becoming good enough to consider doing a show.
This was recorded Friday with a little little linear recorder in the garage.

2 tracks, long train, and one of my tunes. Yeah I know there are mistakes but, I have to give them some credit. They are actually becoming fun to jam with. Notice the timing is pretty good. And Al (drummer) does a pretty good job singing on long train.

Funny how life works huh? Songs are on my profile. Just trying to share what can happen with a little fun.

A little fun? That sounded like a hell of a LOT of fun.

Seriously if more experienced musicians could step outside their egos to work with newbs like Eric has with me / us, there would be a lot less whining about not finding anyone to play with.

Nursing is not the only profession known for eating it's young.

KUDOS Glen

We played our first show with our new guitarist yesterday.
And he did an admirable job with the tunes he was familiar with and despite being only 20 years old he had the wisdom to bow out of those he was not up to speed on and allow Ray to pick up.

Other than burning up our bass system PA ( antique SUNN head ) it was a good show.

At the end we all ( band and the members of the church we were playing for all stood in huge circle holding hands while a lady said a prayer for healing for Tony's wife whom has breast cancer.
I honestly was move to the point of tears.

You guys are ready my friend ... drag those boyz out into the light.

P.S. My wife and I really like your original ... hell yes!

Alright Glen I'm going to give it to you,
I listened to both songs and overall, d#mn
you guys are good, that's the kinda guitar music
I like to listen to and play. I like your drummers
work on the cymbals, my drummer plays a big
set of cymbals.
Long Train Running you guys rock on, I love the
guitar work. The other Song Can't Stop, begining
and end had a 60s Black is Black feel, the guitar
playing in the rest of the song to me, just my opinion,
had a Clapton feel to it, kinda circa Derek and the Dominoes,
you guys are good, I see your needing a piano player,
I might come out and play piano for you guys. Wait
that's north I'm going farther South.

You guys rock.

Glen as long as your having fun, we all know how hard it is to just get 3-4-5 folks together to play anyway, so just enjoy it.

You guys sound great to me!

Keep On Rockin!

Glen,

Both sounded really good. Who ever did the mixing did a good job of it. You guys sound as good as most bands I hear around here, actually, better then a lot of them. You make me want to jam. Cookin! :)

Doobie Bros. Long Train Running has a very nice has a jazzy feel to it.

Nice to hear you put yourself into it instead of playing it exactly the way it was written.

"You got to make it yours" And you did a nice job.

"Can't Stop", please do signature beginning riff exactly unless I am thinking of another tune which is entirely possible.

And the vocalist for "Can't" sounds like he's gargling on raw meat.
It's not bad, it's just very ?> different? (old school blues ?)

He sounds like a giant black guy, standing 7ft tall and weighing in at 500lbs.
(buy him a drink and maybe he'll leave ya alone) lol

"Can't" also has the propensity to go the other direction, dynamics-wise.
As in you can probably add a full repeat of the whole tune, minus the solo, softly played and understated with a big crescendo at the end..

(Wow, that'd be a cool show)

Hey Glen,, I agree with Slacker...really good mix for a live performance.. I also agree with Dylan about the Derek Circa.. I might add , given your fine touch for the jazz front, you also got the flavor of Stephen Stills...Which in my book is very awsome ... Great Job...! Makes me wanna bang on the doors of all my lazy assed friends and get jammin with them..

Glen

Good stuff tough guy.

Plus you improved my flagging morale. My new drummer has never played professionally and I occasionally wonder if I'm doing the right thing but it seems to be coming together. Bit slower than I'd like but it's coming.

Are all your guys new to the game or just a few?

Hey Capt. I posted part of "can't" as it started out 21 years ago. Been done so many different ways I just go with the flow and let the players play.
As far as the 500 lb gorilla thats me singing through a cold. I haven't had a cold in years and it really sucks. I actually dropped my pick twice and my fingers were rubber. I NEVER DROP MY PICK. Pretty funny.

Actually I have a whole lot of respect for you guys as players. ( yeah that even includes Jimmy) I guess the point is having fun playing, can some times bring out the best in people,,, I see some of you doing just that. Jamming and having fun. You guys are all so cool.

Thanks for the kind words.

Glenny Trouble.

Hey Trouble, You know you always sound a little like The Allman Bros.
when I hear you. You have a party voice. The kind of gruff voice that
sounds great in a bar room when you're partying. I wouldn't call yourselves
a garage band. You are right, I think you are ready to play out but I'ld like to
hear a rythm guitar and keys maybe. Anyway, great job kudos.[/b]
