My daughter is turning 15, she is a very talented pianist and i had told he I would get a nice keyboard for her birthday.

So I traded off my Mesa Roadster amp and a couple of other things and got her a Roland keyboard last night. Man this thing is awesome, in fact Im hoping I get a chance to try my hand at some techno mood music with this thing when she isnt around.

I hardly ever part with gear, but that roadster just never got used, other than to practice so I decided to part with it. I did leave a couple of Aint Yo Mama stickers on it, while they were test driving it a couple of guys came up and said something about my band, I said yea Im the guitar player. Pretty cool when folks notice your name, I guess after 25 years of using the name, its nice that someone recognizes it.

Im hopeing my daughter will really take off and do some recording, she has an apple computor and has asked my parents for I think its called Pro Logic to record with, so hopefully she will run with it and record some of the song ideas she has. Shes just like me at that age, I will try to tell her something about gear and she just smirks me off, the guy who sold us the keys, he was in his early 20s, he said young lady your dad has been playing professionally around here for eons, you should listen to him, she just rolled her eyes. He said does that bother you, I said no, I was just like her at that age, she will figure it out on her own if it means anything to her.

But, this morning I was leaving for work and I looked over there where I kept the Roadster, and got a tear in my eye!

I guess Im a serious gearhead.

My heroes are good parents. They don't get honored enough, imo. Way to go, bro.

Thanks guys I dont think I even thought about it like that. I just wanted my daughter to have a really good piece of equipment to follow whereever her musical journey takes her, plus I love hearing her play around the house. We had her moms grand piano for years, but when we divorced that went, so I got this old upright piano that my grandfater had but she doesnt like playing it, so in the kids playroom I have a small pa head and a monitor that i hooked her keys up too, so hopefully the house will be filled with her music again.

She blows me away cause whenever we are at my parents who have a very nice parlor grand, she will sit down and just start playing, I always ask what is that, I dont know Im just making it up. She plays piano in the same way I play guitar, but ear and can just sit and play for however long she feels like it, and it doesnt sound forced or playing by numbers, she has a lot better feel for music than I do.

YOD, I dont know about trading off a Les Paul, the funny thing was Im standing in guitar center and the only guitar in the place I kinda had a jonsen for was a Gibson Explorer. Ive always wanted an Explorer and a Flying V, but i didnt even feel the urge to play the explorer.

It really got me thinking about thinning out the herd, I mean I have stuff that I bought in the 70s still and dont ever use, other than furniture.

Oh yeah I got rid of the Weber Mass attentuator I bought a few years ago also. Hung on to the old Sholz Power Soak.

Awesome man. It's a great thing to pass on to your kids. Being around music and players can get in your blood. Sounds like she has a creative vibe running through her.

I dont know RG, I always thought that since I was a musician that at some point she and I would do some recording, but when I mention it she just shrugs it off, so who knows.

Its a Fantam G8, Ive looked it up online and its top of the line.

Like I said I hope to use it myself for some stuff, Ive always wanted a keyboard workstation to add sounds to stuff i do, the last thing i had was a Yam D7 years ago, so Im way behind the curve.

Ain't that the truth. Scripture says that God does not forget what you do for children, even if it's only giving them a glass of water. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but remember this also that many trees come from the seed from one apple. As parents it is our responsibility to show children love, sacrifice, giving, and forgiving. Is there anything else more important. My parents were very giving and forgiving. They billed me for the long distance calls I made while in the service, meanwhile, my oldest brother was given by them a master card to pay his college tuition and expenses of which he rang up tens of thousands of dollars and then was forgiven. You have more than one child. I can only hope you do as much for all your kids.

I gave my stepson my treasured Ampeg B-12 bass amp. he is a big strong fellow but the amp ended up sitting in my rehearsal studio because it is so damn heavy that even he doesn't like to lift!

The boy had some possibilities with Bass but now he has a daughter with real problems and to his credit most of his time is taken up with that.

My other granddaughter is 4 only yrs old but has pretty darn good meter. She insists I play the Telecaster for some reason, when we do our rousing rendition of Twinkle Little Star, with ABCD for an encore.

Some times I'll make a chord and she'll reach over and strum it and darned if she has ever failed to do it right on the money. The little ham has already learned the key phrase every muscian seems to use constantly: "Turn it up!"
