Been contacting and researching various musical instrument and equipment manufacturers as a prelude to our impending business changes.

Seems market protectionism is the racket of the day.

Thus far only MARSHALL has not balked or stalled any negotiations because " there are other dealers in your area ".

I think from now on my response may be " yes but they are for the most part rude with no idea what " Customer service " actually means.

Is that whom you really want representing your company? :?

I knew this was not going to be easy.

But I'm tenacious.

Considering opening a retail music store Sans? I have several friends that own stores here in SoCal. A pretty tough biz to be in right now.

Have you approached Peavey?

Theyre in Mississippi, so they are 'sort of' in your neck of the woods.

George its not any of my business, but to get going you might consider doing some consignment of instruments and amps to cut down the cost of inventory. I have an old friend in Memphis that did that.

I started a music store in 1983 that took off quickly and made my initial investment back within 6 months. Problem was, it took all my time and I was working 14 hour days. Not to mention that suddenly every one of my musician friends were now "targets" for a sale. Didn't like that feeling.

I decided I'd rather be a poor musician than a retailer who had no time for actually playing music and sold it when my wife got pregnant with our 2nd kid.

THere is probably not a lot of competition in Kilgore. If you add service to the mix, you can succeed if you're better than the local competition.

Lessons, repairs, school band instruments, church sound reinforcement and counseling, etc.

Maybe hold some kind of local band competition with a prize to let everyone in the area know about you.

I appreciate the input.

Much of what is suggested I have already taken into consideration.

My wife will be doing antiques so I figure I might be able to pick up on some classic stuff at estate sales ETC.

Musical equipment will only be a part of our offerings as for competition ... none in Kilgore to speak of but heavy in the area (30 mile radius)

I will also be approaching the ATF for my FFL. As well as obtaining my license to teach concealed carry.

I had not yet approached Peavy but they are on my list ( thanks for the reminder )

I got to do something ... anything ... I cannot tolerate being in the medical profession much longer .

And we have good family support.

We were told today our loan was approved to purchase our own building.

Pray for us ... we'll need it.

Jeanette and I have kicked around seriously the idea of a beer garden .

The space to to it right is a little more than we can really afford at this juncture.
But I figure, with a lot of work and and some blessings we'll be inviting you to have a cold one and jam at the HEIL'L BEER GARTEN before too long.
Some say alcohol and being a Christian don't mix but us Germans know better.
I believe even Jesus would not say no to a frosty brew with good fellowship amongst friends that are family.
