I am new to Band Mix. I just discovered this site and forum. I made my profile last night. I am looking forward to meeting some new people and making some new friends. This looks like a great site for networking and meeting some great musicians. I can’t believe I just now discovered this site. I don’t know what took me so long.

Welcome.
Your a step ahead ( perhaps two steps ) of most whom come into the forum.
Simply by going to the trouble of posting music instead of whining about how bad this site is because they don't everything for free + a puppy.

Looking forward to picking your brain for musical and technical insights.

George
guitar
NOISY KUNG FU !!

P.S.
The two tracks you have posted are quite enjoyable, thanks again.

This is a great site. I am not sure why anyone would whine about it. The networking possibilities alone are great. umm when do I get my free puppy? lol

I checked out your music and pics, looks like you guys have fun. Love the white les paul! Love the music

If you like the tracks watch the videos. Sony Vegas rocks. I love that program.

Thank you.
Greatly appreciate the listen. It's very encouraging to an amateur muso like myself to get good comments on our music.
Yes we really enjoy playing together.
We have become family over the last several years.
I appreciate the heads up on the videos. Don't know how I missed them on the first pass.
Damn dude, you can play

Hope you don't mind I shared the YouTube link to Catalina with my musical friends on Facebook.

You can share the link with whoever you like. I know you like and play christain contemporary styles of music. You should check out my acoustic instrumentals of old hymns. You can view the hymn videos on my website. you can also pick up scales and other great music theory charts there as well all for free.

I like dogs but I don't want a Chihuahua. My friend just bought a Chihuahua. It's the dog for lazy people. You don't have to walk it. Just hold it out the window and squeeze. Cool music mike. interesting ideas

Java- I started listening to the end (great song) I wound up listening to all the songs. You got a whole album there. It's funny that the first song is the end and the last song is the intro. you like to think outside the box. anyway.......... loved your tunes. I think Arrows was my favorite.

Marcus,
Thanks I appreciate the comments. It's all a work in progress but yeah i have a lot of songs or ideas on my page. Just trying to lure the right voice to work with.

Catalina is beautiful piece. Did you write it?
Your spanish spice piece made me think of Rodrigo y Gabriela only because i recently discovered them.

If you like acoustic music i found a band called Punch Brothers a while back they play traditional folk or bluegrass instruments, but create a really unique sound. Heres a clip from them. Really smart musically. The singer mandolin player is also in YoYo ma's "Goat Rodeo".

You seem pretty accomplished. Do you work in the industry?

Jahva,
I was in the industry a while back. I never really made any money. In fact I lost money. Most of what I made went right back into the recording studio and gear purchases. I did radio commercials and I did a movie sound track for a low budget film about 20 years ago. I also played gigs and gave lessons. But my need for gear and recording equipment took in everything I made. I needed this gear to fulfill the jobs I was getting. I had part time Jobs outside of music to make money So I could pay the rent and eat.

Around 20 years ago I pursued a career in the Aviation industry. This career has helped me provide for my family and it has paid for nearly everything I have musically today. I have gone from having a recording studio that was mainly hardware based to having one that is digitally based.

I have a dell desktop that has an AMD 6 core processor and lots of ram. I run Sonar X1 professional. My main piece of hardware is a Sonar VS-100. I also have a Pod 3 pro and a Edirol 64 key keyboard midi controller. I have Edirol monitors and various mics. I am just now starting to get into video so I got two cameras and I am using Sony Vegas for that. Got a green screen set up too.

The past few years I have been recording music CDs for members of the Tulsa Guitar Society. I also have worked in several churches playing Bass, Drums, and Guitar. Whatever was needed I did. Kind of like a fill in the gap kind of thing. Most of this was unpaid, kind of like a hobby thing.

I wrote Catalina. This is one of several pieces I have written and performed. I think I got somewhere around 40 solo acoustic songs like that one. My future plans are to move away from recording people and record my own stuff. I am going to be making videos that will be on you tube soon that will cover a whole range of musical topics

Thanks for the music links. We have people in the Guitar Society that play like Rodrigo y Gabriela. I have recorded some of them. I am playing this weekend with a guy that plays traditional flamenco at the Roxy Theater. This guy is incredible. He can play the stuff in the Tamacun link you provided. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool... at least you've made some progress throughout your life as a musician and engineer/ producer?

There is another popular site for posting songs called Our Stage.
http://www.ourstage.com/
They have a variety of categories of music from Rock to Rap, Country, Pop to instrumental etc...
You can enter the song competitions... $1000.00 is awarded monthly in each category. You should check it out. You've got quality recordings and good sounds.
Not much camaraderie though... just business and competition.

I don't care so much for acoustic music,
tho some of its ok. I skipped down to you
on electric guitar, The Dream Song, I think
you got something there, sounds real fine,
your a very talented player.

Hy Lynard,

I see in your video you are playing through a line 6 amp. I love line 6 gear. What do you like about your amp. Sounds like you get a pretty good tone through that thing.

Jahava,
Thanks for the link my friend. I will look into it

Hey Marcus, I'm using a Line 6 Spider Jam 3, I think
this is the best practice amp I've ever used, it has a
bunch of tracks you can play lead against, allowing you
to run thru lead scales with a backing "band", I don't care
much for it when playing with a group, so am looking for
something more old school where I can set-up a rhythm
channel, and then a channel with more gain for lead
breaks. You might be able to do this with this amp, but
I haven't figured it out. I'll defintely check out other Line 6
amps while looking for a new amp. It seems around here
Mesa Boogie is the gold standard in amps. We've had
a guy sitting in with us who uses a Bugera amp, and it sounds
good, but still up in the air on what to get next.

Lynard

My buddy has both Line 6 and Fender G-Dec. I tried both and ended up with the G-dec. Both are great - the Fender just worked really well for me and seemed to have more features.

Only problem is that it's not quite big enough to use in a jam. Love the built in metronome and backing tracks. Ultimately I moved to the Fender Mustang V / Marshal Cab for the big stuff since it was pretty much like the G-Dec on steroids minus the backing tracks.

I've found that the Mustang V (200 watt) actually does a better job at low volume than the G Dec or the Line 6 - must be a combination of good presets and more speaker oomph.

One dfference - you are a Gibson man and I roll with Fender - which does influence amp selection. Had a lot of fun one night with some guys trying various types of guitars through the various amps. They all really have distinct sounds - except the PSR and I couldn't quite nail that down to a sound - sort of like a Gibson?
