As to your family not believing. Had the same problem. Then I remembered prayer. The Lord answers the prayers of the righteous - whom He defines as those who believe in him: such as you!
I realized finally that my words weren't helping and let Himself do the heavy lifting.

You can count me as the naysayer.
I think that over time, he'll do again exactly what he was doing before.
Prayer will help, but desire is stronger..
(How strong is your desire?)
If there is will, there is always a way.
Bulldoze the world before it bulldozes you.

Crip2nite wrote:Ohhhh... Thank you, Chaeya...you DO have a wonderful way with words. Yesterday I was informed that this is one of the first types of surgeries of this nature. My shoulder wasblown out to bits and they used not only my bones but cadaver parts to put it all back together and try and make it "grow" normally. They're pretty sure it ain't happening but I allowed it as opposed to prosthetic parts which entail serious opening up every 12 -15 years. We'll be able to tell after 6 months. The pain IS excrutiating and they've got me on drugs that the streets peeps would pay thousands for. I NEED them.. without them, I see stars and can't function.. I'll be on these for quite some time and the human body just naturally addicts itself to them no matter what...unless I can try and endure the immense pain. It's like having my arm just holding on with the muscles and nerves just pulling at it non-stop. I take a cocktail of: oxycontin, hydrocodone, oxycodone, hydromorhone, valium and some others for muscle relaxation. I HAVE TO or I won't be able to bear the brunt of the pain. They need to try and make this work and keep me as comfortable as possible which entails all these dangerous pain killers. Call me the Guinea Pig. After 6 months, if all is well, hopefully they'll be able to wean me off otherwise it's re-hab for this ole boy
It's gonna be rough, but I believe you'll be able to wean yourself off them. I'm pulling for ya. Just glad to have you still here.

Most human beings have some sort of spiritual beliefs. It's part of the 2+2=5 theory, you can't live a whole life without it. It's the spiritual element that gets us through whatever we're going through. There's a spark of life that lives within us that we cannot explain; I do know it isn't an accident, we just don't remember.
The sad part about any deity is people keep putting a human personality on an omnipotent being. Being human, it's virtually impossible to fathom a superbeing like any god, for me anyway. However, when we pray, I believe we can tap into that element to ignite the part of "godness" that lives within us which inspires us and moves us to do great things. However, as far as a god sitting up there watching everything humans do like we're its own personal ant farm or pet, I don't believe. sh*t happens because there are elements in place which allow them to happen. Like in Turkey, if you live in an earthquake zone and you live in an old hunk of cement and brick that's not reinforced with anything, a lot of people will die when you have an earthquake. When you live in a big modern city like us and mental illness isn't taken seriously and people are embarressed or refuse to admit they have a problem, then we suffer the consequences when they snap and decide to take their weapon to K-Mart and shoot everyone in sight. Because we live in a polluting environment, we run the risk of getting cancer (kids and babies included), people will die in car crashes, people will get murdered. A god does not sit up in the sky "babysitting" us because we pray to it, and then decides what and who it will happen to. There could be other beings who do this, who knows. I just seem to think god has better things to do like going out, going to god school, exploring new worlds and territories than dealing with a bunch of people whining to him 24/7 about their personal woes without any thought that perhaps there's someone else who needs him more than them.
Obviously, we humans weren't put on this rock to hang around in leisure or work until we go yonder. We were put here to learn, to experience, which cause us to grow as spiritual beings. I think when we decide to come here, we agree to what we will experience in our own growth and learning. I'm sure my bass player maybe had a debt to pay with his murder, or perhaps there was something between he and the man who took his life, then again, it could just be crappy luck. My life has been filled with disappointment after disappointment, but I don't blame that on anyone. It's my experience, and it makes me stronger to get through. I'm not going to throw the responsibility onto another being. Personally, I wouldn't want to do that to any god or goddess. I would think that a god or goddess would like to see me grow and excel to one day become as they, so they wouldn't have me looking to them to fix things constantly. The same thing I do with my kids. I'm preparing them for adulthood, so I'd like to think a god is preparing me for godhood. One thing I love about my youngest daughter, Naomi, she says: "No mom, let me figure it out." And she usually does.
Just another thought.

Wow !!! I am right there with you and the 2+2=5 stuff. Funny how that works out..
He's preparing you to be the best person you can be.
And as for filling in for the big guy? Nah, that job is like being President of the USA.
It isn't all roses and white house dinners FOR SURE !!!
And everyone is an armchair QB, hyper critical and you're only as good as your last show/last tune/last 3rd down conversion.
Do you suppose that God is at least 70% on his completion rate>?
I wonder what his numbers are in the red zone..
"Come on Lord, I have you on my fantasy football team now and I need at least 1 touchdown this quarter to win my division."
No offense intended, Lord. You know I am still riding the razor blade and I didn't just ask for more time on the "Schick Saddle". Matter of fact I was hoping to get off sometime here in the near future...

Now 2 + 2 = 8 right 8 eighth notes in a bar of
2/2 time?
If he's preparing me, I wish he'd hurry up
and get on with it.
It is too all roses and white house dinners,
be sure, except on carnations and congress nights.
God is at a steady 90% completion rate, arecord that
is still standing.
In the red zone he's unstoppable, this is why they
took him out of fantasy football leagues.
Riding the razor blade?
You mean Breaking the Law
Breaking the Law
That's the schtick handle, or is that what this is?
There are a number of ways to get off, and some
work well together.
