Thanks Jahva. I had never heard it before philby turned me on to it. I got really hooked. All I knew about him was that people seemed to make fun of him. I have been quite impressed with him. I also found out he was hugely successful. Like bigger than Elvis before Elvis was big. All I knew before this song was that his song was used as an alien killing weapon in "mars attacks"

I do remember the commercials when I was kid. They claimed he sold more than the Beatles and Elvis. But he just wasn't cool to a 12 yr. old.
I always thought he looked more like a hobo than a rockstar! Or maybe he had a song about a hobo? I can't remember.

That's my brother in law said. He is about 48. I'm 40. I don't remember those commercials with him. They really branded him.

I was waiting for the falsetto,
that was most of his commercial him doing the falsetto
parts to his songs. It seemed like his commercial was
on all the time and we'd imitate and make fun of him.

I remember Slim commercials airing constantly when I was younger. I always thought he sounded better then most, even though his genre wasn't of much interest to me at the time. Almost every holiday they were hawking his albums.
