Well, it's a little odd that he wants in now, rather than say "I'd be glad to audition or jam with you sometime"

And asking for a number because you might be ineterested in some things, is pretty vague too. Most people would tell you what they are trying to hook you up with. Also, alot of people would just give you their number first if they feel comfortable enough to "want in" in to your music project.

Doesn't mean it's a scam. He could just be some guy they'll write a horror movie about one day, with 5 sequels called "He liked green eyes and pretty voices"

But seriously...

Just engage him a little in email only for now. Ask for some music sites he is listed on, to hear his work and read his bio and see pics. Then compare them with any other sites he may be on. Ask him to send you an MP3 or Video of his playing to "get a feel of his style" but also, to see if it is the same guy, and whether he sounds like the same drummer. Have him send the songs to a dummy account you set up for spammers or people you don't want to have your personal email yet.

Get his full name and google him in quotes. Ask for references. what bands has he played with in the past, and where did he perform last. You can check those out through the web and/or a phone call, which will eliminate just about any fear that he is a scam artist.

Another possible scam somewhere maybe..Just got this email and I haven't advertised for a drummer!!!

I think the gift he was referring to is travel coffee mug with the Burger King logo on it. They gave it to him when he got hired to man the fries machine.

Yeah, you never really know. I try and be careful with the response I am getting. I never use my personal email, I email first, have people send tracks, still keep it on a dummy email, and if I do meet with someone, I won't go alone, and if I have to, I go to a public place, like starbucks or something.
Kinda weird if you weren't even looking for a drummer, but might even be more scray of he responded to exactly what you're looking for, those creeps have workful minds..........but he may be ltotally legtitimite.
First I thought as long as I am online, I am safe...but back up all of your work, because I once gota virus from somebody on a forum online that maybe wanted something different from me than I gave him.

I had the same issue with this individual, only through Gigleader, where I'm a premium member. He had given an address for the supposed event. I did a white pages reverse look-up for address and he didn't live there, so I dropped it immediately.

You know hayden, to compare me to someone who is committing fraud is bad enough, but thank you for all the written lies I've found on here by you about me. If you ever do get famous, I can sue you for slander. Since that will never happen, I will just count my blessing that all your fans at the show didn't riot...LMAO

You know Ace I don't know you or Hayden, but I do know the situation.

And I can tell you with complete honesty that no one from this site would get on board with you. (It's way too much of a chance that you are not on the up and up)

If I were you, I'd try to negotiate an armistice. Else, Hayden looks like a pissed off camper and you look like the guy that screwed him cause you could. (If you don't care about your rep as being a fair promoter, you can go f**k yourself in general)

I know a guy who did something similar and after his 4 week hospital stay, he was more or less better.
No one would work with him or for him after wards and his club folded, but no one cared cause he was a thief and a no good slime ball.

(Musicians stick together and if one says that he got f**k for $, it makes us feel like it could happen to any of us)

I suggest you work it out unless you are content to be thoroughly ignored by people here and anyone that ends up finding out about this bad little piece of negative publicity.
