We had a great gig sat night!

It sounded good, the band was feeling good and the crowd was into from the first song all night long, ussually it takes a set to get em going, but they just wouldnt quit. We wound up just winging the songs and did some stuff that we havent played in years but it all came off!

The funniest part of the whole night was our singer. During our first break he and some of our old fans were in the parking lot drinking some Apple Pie moonshine. Someone told the club they were in the parking lot drinking, so one of the bouncers goes out there and tells our singer that they cant drink in the parking lot, he went on further to say that Kevin could but the others if they kept it up, he wouldnt let them back in the club. Kevin being the sharp witted front man he is says Look Im riding with these guys so if they cant come back in then Im not either! The bouncer said well I guess its all right then.

Kevin tells me all of this before our next set, hes joking Im going to say something about it, then he says nah maybe not. I looked at the drummer and said hes gonna say something. So after a couple of songs he says, Ive got something on my mind. Me and my buds that I invited from two counties away were drinking in the parking lot, and someone told on us. Now I dont know who you are but you do, and Ive got two words for you! f**k YOU!!!!! just classic and the crowd went nuts, LOL.

Felt good to be playing with the group again, we fired our sound man during the afternoon and just did it ourself and it sounded better than ever al night long. Why do sound people think that they have to constantly adjust the board? Ive never understood that, but we just set it up, after a few songs I asked a couple of folks what we needed. they said bring the singer up some, and we did and were off to the races.

All of us felt like it was one of the better gigs that we could remember!

Rock On!

Memory's the first thing to go (well maybe not the first).

Awesome job John!

We've never had a soundman. Sometimes I tell the crowd that our soundman passed away so I need your assistance. Not sure about the guys drinking in the parking lot. If they didn't buy the booze at that bar I'd be pissed if I was the bartender. Otherwise sounds like a fun gig. Played a few like that myself.

I saw a band play not too long ago and the singer said quite nonchalantly, "our sound man isn't dead but if he keeps adjusting things every few seconds, he soon will be".

Someone in the crowd gave out with a loud, "amen", the crowd laughed and the sound guy looked like he physically shrank behind the console.

Great pics JW, thanks for sharing.
You posted your comment over the wrong picture you dummy. I know that archtop is a sweet guitar. BUT,,,,

Seems like you keep going back to that Paul, just like Bonamassa, and endless #s of other players that have your talent.

Les Pauls are just like good women, you find a good one you keep strumming her. :)

Yea Glen I played the archtop for a whole set cause the guy who gave it to me showed up that night, its actually a very sweet sounded guitar but I did coax some Metallica out of it!

Yea Ive got 2 Les Pauls that I always go back too, I thought about taking my old 72 Goldtop with the p-90s, but I have to totally re eq my amps for it to work right, plus those big single coils just pick up too much noise with the gain I use for my sound, so once again I left it at home.

These are some nice pics, Smiley  8) Ain't nothin' like a great gig.
I played in a band in the summer and the sound man was awful. I know I play the flute but when I am on stage I should be heard as well as the gee-tarrs. I couldn't hear myself worth beans.

Mentioning Mesa's, I was going to use my Roadster 100 watt 2x12 combo and tie it to my mesa 4x12 cab. I even used this setup for rehearsal and it sounded great, but sat morning I pulled the triple head out of the trailer and hooked it to the Mesa 4x12 and the Laney 4x12, it just had a hell of a blend of frequencys between those two cabs. Plus I basically set up my vintage channel ala JCM 800 (Slash Tone) anyway, and use it 80% of the time. This setup just nailed it, I spent a couple of hours at my house setting the tone up and didnt adjust anything when I set up at the club, no volume, no eq nothing, it just nailed it.

That roadster combo has reverb and it has a lot of little noises to it, that the triple doesnt have.

I did take to ole Sunn Model T and had it on top to square my bandmates, that damn thing is so loud, its basically unusable. My drummer saw it and said what are doing with that thing here, I said its just for looks. He looked releaved. The only place i would really hook it up is outdoors these days, and slave it out of another amp.
